Hello Cat lovers!

Today I just noticed that the back of my 3 month old kitten's (Name is Aslan) ear is a rash. It is reddish purple, only on the outside flap, does not feel bumpy, they are not really circular and they are filled in. He has not been scratching or doing anything weird with his ear. He is playing normally and eating and pooping a lot. Which he has always done :)

I rescued him when he was about 5 weeks old from his mommy who I still feed to this day and when I took him to the vet, she said there are no problems and poop sample came out normal (When I first got him). He has had his Deworming shots and 1 FRVP shot. I have not gotten the others yet because he has never been outside of my apartment since I took him in.

My concern right now is, his mom gave birth to 4 kittens, which 3 are adopted out and 1 stayed with me his name is Louie. He is 5 weeks old. I just took him to the Vet, and so far he is healthy. We do not really keep them in the same room, because Aslan is still getting use to him. I should also mention that Louie has fleas but I did my best on keeping it contained gave him capstar and gave him a bath with dawn. All Adult fleas are out.

This does not sound like ringworm to me, and I'm just freaking out because I'm not sure how he got this. Please if anyone knows what this might be, your knowledge will sure ease my mind.

Thank you so much! :)

Ps: Momma cat is scheduled to get spayed this Friday.

Well it actually could be ringworm and even though that needs a vet to diagnose via woods lamp or culture, if you showed us a photo we might be able to say a bit more.  If its a reddish bald spot9s) especially on the ears then its a decent possibility, sorry.

I have to agree with you it doesn't look like ringworm, but it looks like something ;-).  Any scratching there going on?

Hey Guys!

No there has been no scratching and he hasn't touched it. It seems like he doesn't know its there. It doesn't bother him at all.

Again thanks for responding.

And here are my Kittens. Orange on is Aslan and Grey one is Louie :))

Beautiful cats!

My cat Diamond had reddish bumps on his ears and the vet said it was allergies.  Diamond also had big chunks of sleep in his eyes.  The vet gave me Betagen for his ears.  He suggested I use only stainless feeding bowls.  I decided that maybe it was the wheat kitty litter and I changed to Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat litter.  Things have cleared up.

I don't know if allergies are what is affecting your kitty, but it might be a possibility.  I hope your little guy is well soon!

Thank you so much!

I have not even thought of allergies. I will definitely change the bowls because they are not stainless steel. We use Blue Naturally Fresh Pallet liter, everyone I know has recommended it to me so I hope it isn't the litter.

I will keep you guys posted and hope it is just allergies and nothing serious. Thank you everyone for you help! and if you have any suggestions I will still like to know.

Thanks  <3

Two of my kittens got something similar from over grooming, it went away after letting the kitten be alone for a few days. Not sure if that would apply to you or not.. I've also had one of my cats a few years ago fall asleep in the window before also on a bright summer day and got sun burnt in the areas with less hair.

He just recently started sleeping by the window and the ear thats red is the one getting most sunlight! So I'll keep away for a couple of days and see what happens!

Thanks!!!

Try to setup an area for him where he can have a lot of warmth as well, cats do that a lot of the time to stay warm if its on a floor.

Hello Everyone!

Thank you so much for your responses. It saved me a lot of anxiety and a trip to the Vet. His rash has gone down significantly. So I am most likely guessing its sunburn. He does not sit by the window anymore which I have noticed. Haha :)

Love

Aslan and Louie's Mommy :)
