Hi there! I'm new here!

I have a ten year old cat who I took in due to some visible weight loss. I was hoping it was because sometimes he holds out for better food but that isn't the case. He tested first with hypoglycemia and Hypercalcemia. Once fasted the glycemic levels were within normal but still low ish. His calcium is still raised.

Now, I'm on hard times right now financially. I can't afford any of this but I of course am going to help him. Vet suggested xrays and ultrasounds.

Anyone have any experience?

Here is kind of an interesting thread on hypocalcemia:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/178460/lactulose-and-hypercalcemia

Interestingly enough, they mention the parathyroid gland in that thread, and we are currently having my hubby checked out for issues with his parathyroid gland because HE has raised blood calcium levels AND he has pretty severe hypoglycemia.  Not sure if we are comparing apples to apples, but I think we could be
.

Did your Vet say why they want to do Xrays and Ultrasounds?  What are they looking for?  (If the parathyroid, which is rare in cats, first they would do a PTH and PTHrP, which I believe are both blood tests. Did they do that already?)  How high is his calcium compared to the norm?  What did they suggest you do in the meantime?
