last night i was exploring my new computer, checking out the games that came pre-installed on it and downloading some additional games. i was very pleased to see my favorite games pre-installed, and that the microsoft app store had many free games -- ones that i was actually interested in.

so with games on my mind, for today's Question of the Day.........

What games do you enjoy?   (any kind of games -- card games, board games, games played on a computer, playstation and/or xbox (or Wii), puzzles -- word or numbers or jigsaw, games played with kids including furkids -- like hide and seek, and etc)

i'll start!

i enjoy a lot of different games, and different kinds of games. i love puzzles, especially ones using numbers and jigsaw puzzles. i like working on crossword puzzles, though i think i could improve with time and effort. i enjoy word games like word search too. i prefer to play these games on my computer.

i really like card and board games, but rarely get the chance to play them -- i don't live near people who enjoy them. so i play some of these kind of games on my computer. i love cribbage and backgammon, and have these games on my computer -- where i play against the computer. i absolutely love mahjong, which i've only ever played on a computer. my dad had an actual mahjong game many years ago, and i believe he knew how to play.

i've never played any playstation or xbox games, though i can play xbox games online with my new computer.

sometimes our jaspurr will initiate a game of hide and seek with snick. he'll partially conceal himself behind a piece of cat furniture, and then snick and i will come looking for him. snick is pretty quick to find jaspurr, and he then pops up and gently taps snick on her head. this game is a way that jaspurr can play with snick, which she's able to participate in.

my niece and nephew loved playing the Hungry, Hungry Hippos game. i played this game with them sometimes, when they were younger.

okay, now it's your turn!

I like board games, but it has been a long time since I played!

Not a lover of card games, and not a lover of jigsaw puzzles.

Barely ever played video games on the XBox or playstation, I just didn't care for the constant expense! But always had friends who enjoyed it.

But I do enjoy computer games, and games on my phone apps. Favourites tend to be adventure, mystery or horror games.

I've really liked playing adventure-type games on consoles and hand-held devices ever since the Ninetendo 64 came out. The graphics were so amazing, and it looked (and was) SO fun to play. It completely changed everything; I was never into the pinball or shooter games, or role-playing.

I love all the Zelda games, and most of the Mario ones. I like Mah Jong and Solitare because they keep part of my brain busy so I can think straight with another part. They are all relaxing.

I played a lot of board games as a kid, and card games. That's what all the kids did back then. We've also enjoyed playing Cranium games with our daughter when she was growing up.

(We bought her first video game when she was 2, a Teletubbies game, and tried with others over the years and she's never had any real interest in them. We have all the consoles and hand-held gaming systems and her friends are blown away when they come over, but I guess for her it's not a cool thing to do since her parents do it, lol.)

I occasionally play mah jong on the PC.

I used to love to play pinochle but I think there are very few people who play it anymore.  It has been a long time since I have been able to get three other people together to play.

that's part of why i didn't enjoy video games using game consoles -- just too expensive for me.
i was amazed when i found that i can play xbox games free online with the new computer. maybe not the 'latest and greatest' games, but i don't mind that.

there are so many computer games, and types of them, that i haven't tried. i'll have to check out the adventure, mystery, and horror ones.

i love the games that require thinking, using my brain. mahjong is one of my favorite games. i enjoy solitaire games too, and have just started doing the pyramid solitaire games. that's a 'new challenge' for me.

i played board and card games often as a kid too. there were a lot of really fun board games available back then.

I LOVE jigsaw puzzles!!!

I also like card and board games. I don't play many of the online games except solitaire & mah jong.

When I'm online I do play How to Train your Dragon on Facebook. Most of my games are for one person.

Yes, they are adventure-type games where you get to explore without having to fight constant battles. You collect things that you find, talk to villagers and other people, go on side quests, there are also mini-games within the games where you can win useful items for the main quest.

Link is the hero and star of the games, and Zelda is a princess who usually needs rescuing from the evil Ganondorf, but she also helps Link fight in sometimes so she's not a useless princess. To me, the games are so fun since there's not a time limit (on most of them) so I can go explore and do side quests as much as I want. I don't like the fighting games, but the battles in Zelda are not difficult to win. I don't usually learn all the sword moves, I just hack away and that does the trick.

In some places, you can't do everything you need to do, so you come back later when you have the right equipment. To play, you can just turn it on and start, it's not difficult at all. Anyway, I could go on and on but Zelda games are just super-fun!

I love Canasta...my dad taught me how to play when I was little. I can't find anybody willing to pay Canasta with me. We do play Shang-Hai Rummy with friends on card night.

Still playing Angry Birds on my phone and my Nook. As well as the new Angry Birds POP. Some Mah Jongg on my phone. I play Bubble Witch Saga 2 and Candy Crush from time to time. Not often anymore. Still have Tetris on my phone.

Rick and I play a lot of Scrabble, esp when it's colder outside and we hang out in the house more. I love Monopoly. We played a lot of Candyland and Go to the Head of the Class with the grands. Some Chutes and Ladders.

Our son used to have the Legend of Zelda on his old Nintendo, I think it was. And Dr. Mario, Super Mario Bros. Those are very old games. (You know, I wouldn't mind having a Nintendo now.)

it looks like a good portion of us enjoy mahjong! great game!

i think i understand how you feel -- i play cribbage on my computer (and against the computer) because i haven't been able to find anyone in my area who likes to play cribbage (with an actual board and deck of cards). for me, cribbage is a game that's wonderful for playing while socializing.

i love jigsaw puzzles too! i work on them on my computer, using a program in which i can easily create jigsaw puzzles using pretty much any picture i find online. with the cats, it doesn't go well trying to do actual physical jigsaw puzzles. the pieces are way too tempting for them to play with!

@SwampWitch   -- Zelda sounds interesting to me! i'm not big on the fighting battles constantly kind of games either. the exploring and winning the useful items sounds like fun. i'll check it out!

Games on TV: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Millionaire.

Games on Computer: Fitz! (found on bigfishgames) and PHIT (found on addictinggames).  I also enjoy hidden treasure games when I can find a good one. I also like trivia, jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, scrabble, backgammon, mah jong  and Sudoku.

Cards games aren't high on my list, but I like solitaire and spades.

My preference are games that challenge the mind.

I agree with mickNsnicks2mom -  when I was younger, people tended to gather and play social games. It seems now days, they are more interested in playing games on their phones or they simply just 'don't have time' for social activities like playing games.
