My 3 year old kitty won't eat. Last time I know she ate normal was Saturday morning--24 hours ago. I've given her food throughout Saturday and she's ignored it. She ate some Saturday night around 5:30pm but only a little.

We feed her only wet food. This isn't like her.

She seems ok otherwise. I'm planning on calling the vet later....its 3am here. But does anyone have thoughts?

Cats stop eating when they feel badly or are sick, unless you're used to her doing this because she is a picky eater, but this doesn't sound like that.  A vet visit is needed.  You could also try her favorite treats ....

Had her at the vet. Lungs, heart sound fine. Ears and gums look fine. She felt all around and everything felt fine. No fever. The only thing she heard when she listened to her neck was it was raspy. Took blood. Liver, sugar kidney were fine except one kidney level was almost out of the normal range. They gave her fluids and an antibiotic shot for possible respiratory infection. I brought her home. She ate half her food we had down. Nothing since. I'm hoping she will bounce back. I'm still so worried.

Which kidney value was out of range? One of my cats refused to eat and it turned out her kidneys had been severely damaged. Her creatinine and BUN were off the charts. Luckily it was an acute case (after a poorly done spay procedure at the shelter vet) and was reversed after two nights in a hospital w 24/7 IV fluids.

My cat is very strange when it comes to food. Even that I read all around Internet that cats likes to have always same food, my cat is opposite. He likes always new food. New company, new sort of meal. Try something else. And in any cat call veterinarian because when cats suddenly do not want to eat can be health problem (tooths or something else)

She didn't say which test. And it was still in the normal range just on the upper end of normal. Nothing was way out of range.

She checked her mouth. Said everything looked fine.

She ate a little through the night. But that's it. We may call later today if things don't improve.

She's getting her usual food?  Have you tried any food enhancers to get her to eat?

Yes. We fed her her usual food at 2am Saturday morning. She ate it. Nothing after it.

What are some food enhancers? We crush her treats and put on top.

Yes her favorite treats. Fresh cooked chicken. Chicken baby food stage one. Something really smelly like 9lives tuna. Or prescription hills A/D which many cats any resist.

I'm concerned that something is going on with your cat. He should be eating. If he goes 2 days no food he is at risk for liver disease that makes the loss of appetite worse and may require syringe feeding.

Also there is an appetite stimulant the vet could try but that doesn't get at the cause.

And you may need to subsided syringe feeding very soon

We had a feral kitten at death's door, hadn't eaten for 4 days, and finally was caught because he got so weak. I had some Pets Alive Felisafe for vomiting and fever, it helps with the immune system and the respiratory system too.  2 hours later the kitten was eating! I don't know if it was that, or cleaning out his nose, but who cares, I'm thankful! Whats nice about their product too, is that it is tiny pellets that you pinch up and put into the mouth where they stick and get absorbed.

Stephen--She is even boycotting her treats. She ate a little between midnight and 6am and that's it. They did blood tests Sunday...other than a kidney test being on the upper range of normal nothing showed. What else should they test???

She's acting like she has a hairball. Is there a way to get the hairball up???

She may have swallowed something other than hair.  The raspy sound in the throat might indicate that.  I'm sure the vet looked to see what she could see.  Check around and see if you are missing anything, like tiny kids toys, or worse, if you left any sewing stuff around, because they will eat the thread and swallow the needle if there is one attached.  There is hairball medicine to get a hairball DOWN, not up.  It's called Laxatone and it's sticky and tastes like molasses.  There are other brand names of the same thing but that's the on I have used. I hope she feels better soon.

Gave her laxatone. I noticed tonight when she ran downstairs or upstairs she did this thing with her tongue. Like she had something sticky in her mouth.

She tried throwing up. It was Yellow and white flephem. We are going to the vets at 8 40.
Clearly something is wrong and hairballs aren't known to kill appetite.  It may be time for imaging, x-ray or ultrasound, and its definitely time to do liver tests as she could be moving into hepatic lipidosis which is dangerous and causes appetite loss.  But 2 days is one day longer than she shouldn't eat and i would be discussing syringe feeding at the least with my vet, and if liver results aren't good, then tube feeding.  And a really full exam is called for.  I know you're at the vet now so hopefully you will return with results.
