My 14 year old cat was diagnosed over a year ago with a highly aggressive adenosarcoma in both lungs. There is no chemotherapy that has any effect on this fatal cancer. I was told to put Simon to sleep that day. Since he was in no pain and clearly still enjoying a good quality of life I decided to take things one day at a time.
I did a bunch of research and learned of a vet who was using LTCI off-label in some pets with cancer with some success. I was ready to get on a plane to Pittsburgh when my oncologist at the Animal Medical Center in New York said that she was willing to give it a try since there were no other options.
I am so grateful for this medication and the fact that the vet was willing to take a chance on it. Simon is doing great at 15. His weight is good, eating normal and he still plays like a kitten. It's still one day at a time and this may stop working tomorrow, but LTCI has been great for his immune response. Of course, each case is different. The cost of his monthly shot is $75.00.
