Hi all
My vet wants to treat Enzo with doxycycline for 20 days because the initial dose wasn't sufficient in treating his URI. Should I be concerned about this? I know I learned a lot about convenia on here and I'm nervous about giving him an antibiotic for so long.

Doxycycline is great at treating secondary bacterial infections often associated with viral URIs. Does Enzo have feline herpes virus or calicivirus? What are his symptoms?

Famcyclovir and L-Lysine are good to treat both Calici and Herpes. There is also a fairly new antibiotic out called Veraflox that is designed to specifically treat secondary bacterial infections associated with feline herpes.

I'm not sure if his URI is caused by herpes, we didn't have him tested. But as a precaution I am giving him a lysine supplement. We did a nose culture and the bacteria she found starts with a b-bortitello maybe? He just can't shake the stuffiness.
