How does my cat show me affection. Let's see.

Every day I go to sleep like this...

and I wake up like this...

or this...

Working at a computer, like now, is like this...

which, to be be fair, is an improvement over this...

and watching movies is like this

and chilling out is like this

I feel very, very lucky to have a burmese cat bond with me. Mia is awesomely affectionate, more like a dog than a cat.

She certainly does look affectionate.  I'm jealous.  Sometimes it seems like my cats only show me affection by allowing me to feed them.  How old is Mia?  I keep hoping once the teenage years are over, they will be more loving...

Lovely photographs- they tell a lovely story! Mia clearly loves you. She sleeps in the same positions as a human - so funny!

I don't like assigning human emotions to cats. However my cats choose to interact with me above the need for feeding and warm spots. Often they seek me out for no other reason than to be close. What ever it is it's mutually beneficial to both us and our cats. Like all humans and animals they have different personality traits. I am bonded to mine through hand raising. However the feral cats we had several years ago would often greet me in cat fashion even when there was not food in the offering. In fact they often came over and made some display after I fed them.

Whatever their actual feelings I love and cherish them.

Mia  still a kitten and her affection only for Macha lol she's like her mother. She follows her everywhere, sleep together all the time and even wash her. When she woke up she's looking  for Macha and crying if she couldn't find her. Macha comes and running to comfort her. I tried to give my love and affection but it seems she's not interested yet, all she wants is Macha. She would allow me to pet her if Macha on my lap same time, two cats on my lap purring lol I can't wait till she grow up and show me her affection, for the mean time I am so patiently waiting.

Prince is very affectionate toward me. He loves to lay on me when I am on couch like a baby. No matter if I am sitting or laying. When he wants to cuddle I have little choice. LOL His nick name is Cuddle-Bear. Princess likes to lay on my Mom. I think she learned to cuddle from Prince. Tammie is not very affectionate. She sits on Mom's lap but is grouchy about it. lol She is grouchy about everything. All 3 are totally different. Here is a photo of him and me.

Macha may never give her affection too you fully, I hope I'm wrong, but the kittens that stay with the mother or an older sibling turn more feline than human. I was a cat breeder and Show Judge and I have over the years observer cat behaviour and I have been on wrong' side of cats who just didn't want to  know me perhaps one of my children would get the transferred affection. Once agin I hope I'm wrong regards anneno2

So most weekday mornings I usually grab my cup of coffee and sit in my living room watching the morning news before I make my way out to work. Toby once in awhile will come over to me and put his paws on me as if he's trying to convey his need for me to stay home with him. He is NOT a lap cat like my other cat Bugsy. He doesn't like to be picked up but will always allow me to if I want to cuddle him to death, lol. I can only think that he is truly showing me his affection for me. I've recently read some crazy study that said that cats are not affectionate and that couldn't be further from the truth as evident from these pictures shown below. Do your cats show you affection and if so, how do they show it to you?

....of course I gave him rubs and scritches for his show of affection and it breaks my heart to get up and move away from him when he is in this mood, lol!
Toby could be Robins brother. Robin isn't a lap cat, but generally he will sleep next to me on the sofa. In bed, he might not sleep next to me right away, but at one point he will invariably fall asleep with his rear paws nestled on my neck and his head and paws in my outstretched hand.

In a way, I'm jealous of other people's lap cats, but at the same time, at 15-16 pounds, and 36 inches, he would be a bit overwhelming.

I have come to the conclusion that even though our cats are not lap cats, they are affectionate in their own right.  Tati flops on your feet for a belly rub, or bumps foreheads and rubs cheeks with you every chance she gets... if only for a few moments.  I am glad she is high energy.  She makes me smile a lot with her antics.  I wish she slept on my bed instead of under it, but as I get used to it, it works better for both of us.  I am a restless sleeper and toss and turn a lot.  Hard to do wtih a cat in bed...Snowy has a plethora of looks... some say I love you, some say thank you, some say I approve of your behavior.  She is the watcher over our apartment.  She keeps things in line.  Her life has not been easy, and she suffers from a couple chronis health issues.  She just doesn't like to be petted.  She acts like it hurts... but when she comes to you for one of her rare reqeusts for affection, it melts my heart... i cannot say no.  The rest of the time, the looks are enough.  When she give you the occassional nip on the nose, or lick on the cheeck or pat on the arm, it really does go a long way.   Buttercup (the stray/feral) is actually the most frequently affectionate in her own way.  She doesn't want to be held... but she will come amost in reaching distance, and then expect you to overextend your arm in the most uncomfortable position she wrangle you into, for a scritch behind the ear or under the chin.  Then she will skitter away, to make a circle around you and come from a different angle.  Sometimes she will belly  crawl up to you if you are sitting on the floor and she will try to hide under your legs and you think, aw, how sweet, she is coming to me for protection, which usually takes less than 1 minute before you realize she trying to use that spot as a vantage point from which she can launch a full on attack against an unsuspecting resident cat... She constantly seeks out attention. However, it is not affection she is showing, but reassurance she is seeking... Theo's adoring looks are more affectionate - even though he is very careful to stay out of the way of a phycial touch, he comes to watch you, not because he wants something, but because he just wants to be close to you and keep an eye on you just like he does the rest of his pack.  Its his way of letting us know we belong to him, that we mean more to him than a full food dish or a clean litter box... we are part of his world. He may not want us to touch him, but equally, he wants to know we are there.

My tortie is so dark it is hard to tell if her eyes are open when she rests in the recliner across the den from me. But every little bit she will turn her head to see if Opie is still napping then she settles back down into her nap
