hey guys,

last week we had some foster kittens from our local shelter and one of them died from diarrhea and weight loss. we've since treated the other three for coccidia, worms, and given the first round of shots.

i have some older foster kitties that have had their first round of shots and dewormer since. i have the round of shots and dewormer ready for this one foster kitty named Marshmellow, but i'm hesitant to give it to her cause she's had uncontrollable diarrhea, leaking all over the place, some lethargy, and a really swollen anus that looks like diarrhea is always leaking out of.

does anyone know what it might be? i'm trying to get the money together to get her in the vet but i'm wondering if the shots and dewormer would help?

it also doesn't look so much like coccidia, with her anus looking the way it does.

She really needs to get to the vet before she becomes dehydrated.  Her anus is swollen from the uncontrolled diarrhea.

Vaccination could make a weakened kitty even weaker, so it's usually recommended for vaccinations to be given only when a cat is healthy. Sounds like something is taxing her system, it may be good to get her fecal sample tested to see what's making her ill. Have you tried the skin tenting test to see if she's still dehydrated? If you just pinch up her skin at the scruff and let go and the skin snaps back, that means she's perfectly hydrated. But if the skin slowly goes back into place or if it just stays up (like a "tent"), then it means she's dehydrated (if skin slowly settles back down) or dangerously dehydrated (if the skin just stays up). Kittens can go downhill very quickly, so a vet visit would be best..
