Cuts/bites in ear?

My cat Niya had been moody lately and today I noticed this inside his ear. They look like either cuts from scratching or maybe bites. Something related to ear mites? I've noticed he's been scratching his face, but nothing alarming. Also, he's an indoor/outdoor kitty and I use Frontline flea/tick on him. Time for a vet visit? Thanks!

If it were ear mites, I think you'd be seeing lots of black gunk in there as well.  It's hard to say what is causing this, but if you're witnessing him scratching his ears quite a bit, then he may be inadvertently scratching himself bloody. 

Definitely time for a Vet visit.
