Hello, I am just wondering about an ingredient that I came across in Ziwipeak's moist cat food. This ingredient is called tetrasodium pyrophosphate and when I researched it online I came across some disturbing things. One search brought up this ingredient being used in rust remover. Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of what the purpose of this would be in cat food!.....thank you for any feedback

I've just googled its use. As far as I can work out, its used as an emulsifier and a flavour enhancer. It has no nutritional value. Hope that helps.

Ziwipeak has it listed as a "mineral" on their website. I hear they are responsive you could email them and ask about it. I feed both the air dried and the moist food. I know it's not perfect food but its the best I can do for my picky cats that wont eat home-cooked. I don't know that we can expect any commercial food to be as clean as homemade.

Our kittens both love Ziwipeak Rabbit and Lamb, but we'll be slowly phasing it out due to cost and good alternatives. I do trust the brand, though, and as missmimz said they're responsive - they even sent us some samples.

It is incredibly expensive. I'm feeding the air dried as well as the Venison wet in rotation with several other brands but it's very costly (especially because I have 10 cats right now!). I also trust the brand, so its hard for me to eliminate it entirely because I think its exceptionally good food.

We feed the air dried lamb in addition to the canned rabbit and lamb. Was actually able to get a pretty good deal on jet (new user coupon) for the air dried (think it came out to $12 a bag, no taxes/shipping).

We have 2 big kittens (Siberians, 6 months old, but 8.2 and 7.6 lbs), the larger one we suspect has IBD, which makes it tougher to try new things. They can be fairly finicky but if they like something they devour it.

I totally agree, I don't see us eliminating it entirely, but we're trying to feed less of it until they get out of their massive calorie intake kitten phase.

In the case of the canned, one issue with ZP is the food kind of sticks to the can, it has to be scooped out. We feed mostly raw (Primal) so the instances where we feed canned it's because we forgot to thaw raw and/or we're just in a rush, but in that scenario it's been just as easy for us to keep a bag of primal pronto or NV raw bites handy.

Also, the girls love Nutro Natural Kitten which we hadn't considered until you mentioned it!

Oh that's good! Mine don't seem to really like the Nutro kitten anymore
so I've been phasing it out and replaced it with Merrick's LID chicken. They still really like the Nutro sliced turkey, so I'm keeping that in the rotation for now.

We just tried the ziwipeak beef canned and it was hastily devoured with no upset tummies :)

Beef was a hit with mine too, but I already feed the air dried beef, plus RC beef AND beef i make, so I don't typically buy the ZP beef, because that's a lot of beef
