Hello all, my name is Kelly and I am a new cat mom. Two weeks ago I heard a loud meowing coming from the hood of my car. When I opened it up, I was in love with the tiny kitten inside! I took him home and named him Houdini. He was clearly born outside and had never been handled by people. His lip was torn off from his teeth and he was very small. We went to the vet and found out his jaw was broken so he is currently recovering from surgery and wearing a cone. Over the past two weeks he Has changed so much! He sleeps by me, he is playful, he doesn't hiss or run anymore when I go near him. He hid so much when I first brought him home that he earned the name Houdini! I am completely smitten and trying to figure out this pet thing, I've never been responsible for a pet all by myself!

I'm so glad you heard his meowing from under the hood! It's a dangerous hiding spot for cats. They will climb up under car hoods like that, especially in colder weather, and the driver unknowingly will start the car and the cat will be badly injured or killed. My family had an outdoor cat when I was a teenager that that happened to. We renamed him Lazarus after he survived getting caught in my dad's truck engine. Houdini is so lucky he found a nice mom to rescue him. Welcome! You will find lots of info to help you care and bond with him.
