My girl is driving me absolutely up THE WALL. After I come home from work, I love on her and then let her outside on the balcony (supervised, of course). She loves it out there and will play with whatever bugs she finds, curls up on the patio furniture, listens to the birds...cat stuff. So there's no question as to where she would rather be.

BUT! Five minutes after I let her out....she meows and wails at the sliding glass door to come back inside. I'm not a monster, so I of course allow her back inside. Less than a minute later, she's meowing to go back out. So I let her out. Can you guess what happens next?

And this is a CONSTANT pattern, from the time I come home until the sun sets. She knows she isn't going outside after dark.

What on earth can I do to stop this? I do not exist to jump up every three minutes to let her inside or out, because she cannot make up her mind. And there's no ignoring her; she begs and cries until she gets her way. This has been going on for several months now. What do I do? Just not let her out at all? Leave her?

Please help, because my blood pressure is shot!

Leave the door cracked open its a losing battle!!! There's something in a cat's DNA that makes them do that I've stopped closing the door and leave it cracked.

I actually tried that method a few days ago and it worked out great - until mosquitoes started popping in! I live in the South so there's really no escaping that.

First thing you need to do is relax. She loves you.Be grateful she is with you.One day you will look back & talk about what she used to do to bug you. They teach us.We don't teach them. For they are superior.LOL Enjoy your lovey!! You need to say to yourself Is this the end of the world? Do you have a sliding screen on your patio door? If not get one.I use a small bungee to keep it closed but the kitts can eyeball bugs etc.Hugs c.

You can get a cat door that can be fitted to a sliding glass patio door. That's what we did since our cats also love being on the balcony. They can come and go as they please (although we block it when we can't supervise) and bugs can't get in.
