My cat is roughly 1 year old and we've had her about 7 months now. She's been your typical cat up until last week. I wouldn't say there is cause for alarm, more of just a curiosity at this point, but do cats sense autumn?
She seems nervous when I'm standing over her and likes to sit under the kitchen table where she can run down the hall quickly for a fast getaway. She hasn't gotten hurt and nothing has happened for her to be afraid (that I know of). The only thing that's changed is last week it was very windy and the temps dropped (she doesn't go outside though). The house was creaking a lot in the wind and she seemed a bit on edge at every noise. She's not like this all of the time and is mostly her usual self. It's just I've noticed a change this past week and was wondering if anyone else has some insight.

The wind (and creaking) could well be spooking her. Cats (like at least some other animals) are sensitive to changes in barometric pressure. I'd guess that it's a combination of the weather and the creaking that's bothering her.

You might find that Feliway helps to settle her. Spirit Essences and/or Composure are worth a try too - particularly if she's really on edge.[article="30274"][/article][article="30316"][/article]

Thanks for the reply. I've heard about cats sensing earthquakes but I wasn't sure about the changing seasons or pressure.
