This is Stache and he's been with me 4 days now. My roommate has a dog and while they've had some interaction (through the carrier), I'm unsure of the best way to integrate the fur family. Stache is fairly confident, he's ready and eager to explore the house and I feel bad about keeping the dog shut out since she was here first. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Has the dog seen Stasche at all?  and how did he seem to react?

Others will weigh in I am sure on the proper way to introduce animals, but until we moved to our current apartment, back when we had a house, the way I introduced animals was Hey Buddy, look, we got a cat!  Or hey guys, look, this birds name is Pete, or sometimes, No Alex, don't eat that, thats our friend.  We had dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, birds, lizards, etc.  They all got along.  Living in the apartment and trying to do it the right way it has been very difficult to get my animals to get along.  1, the apartment is smaller so everybody has less space.  2. The cats are strictly indoor, where they used to be indoor outdoor.  3.  I have more time on my hands to stress over every little reaction.

Just make sure you are on hand so Stasche doesn't get eaten or scratch anyone's eyes out.  In case the roommates dog has an inbred aggression towards cats...i would let the dog see her in the carrier at first,  but lots of cats and dogs get along.  They will just have to set their boundaries, and there may be some initial growling or hissing... so long as there is no chasing and biting, its okay for them to do a little sorting out.

Okay, just went back and read that they have had some interaction through the carrier... thats great! if that is going well, just make sure to supervise, give them both some treats, and positive reinforcement, and then separate them if you are not going to be in the room for a day or two...

He is too cute!! Yes I would keep them separated for a while. Keep the pup on the leash when around the cat so you can easily control him if he gets excited.
