You can use a piece of dental floss and tie it off about an inch from the kitten. Use blunt scissors or your finger nails and snip the cord a little beyond the floss. You don't need to worry about sterilizing them.
yep, and now it's a waiting game for the rest. hard to tell what's going on because the box is so small, I tried and failed to get her to move to a larger box but I got one ready. Second placenta was also delivered.
she seems to be doing good. She's cleaning the kittens really well and everything. I'm just letting her do her mama thing and not interfering to much unless I need to cut a cord.
She kinda howled for a moment with this forth one. Watching closely to make sure kitten isn't stuck. @Handsome Kitty Edit: Kitten four has been safely delivered! and so far all placentas are also accounted for. I think I felt one more within so waiting to see with that one.
there was a 5th born some time after I went to bed. My fiance stayed up just in case. Moma delivered before he even realized that it was happening and without any problems. She's doing really well so far and is mainly staying with the babies nursing and cleaning them. I don't have weights just yet I'm going to attempt to get those in a bit.
That's good to hear from someone who knows more than me. I was concerned about the two smaller ones, but they seem to be nursing without any problems. Yes my fiance got them into a larger box last night. Everyone has much more space.
