Hello I need some advice for my "IBD" kitty. I have post many times in the past about my 14 yr old Lucy and you can see it in my history. Well short story is my Lucy was diagnosed over a year ago with IBD and something else I forgot but basically was some type of possible stomach bacteria . She was given pred and 2 antibiotics in 1 pill. I gave her the anti biotic for about 2 weeks but they just seemed to upset her belly even worse and the pred did the same so I tried to manage her illness with diet changes.
I tried pro and prebotics. I tried chicken and rabbit raw home made and commercial foods but she would just vomit over and over plus her BELLY rumbles ,grumbles and makes noises like ours do when its hungry. I tried evo, natural balance, daves, call of the wild, hollostic, abadys, bff, newmans, foods in every protein they sell but she would always vomit. Then I tried natures variety rabbit, venison, turkey, duck and she would vomit then I tried the low calorie diet chicken and she did well on it for about a month but then started vomiting BADLY. I came across ziwi peak venison and for about 5 months Lucy has been doing wonderfully.my wallet hasn't as a weeks supply after shipping is $40 [emoji]128542[/emoji]. But for the past week and a Half she has been vomiting alot and large amounts. Literally 5 minutes after eating the ziwipeak venison that she has been great on for months her belly starts making noises that sound like hunger pangs and then she vomits. I bought some hound and Gatos chicken and she ate a little but stopped and now won't touch it. I can see she's upset and her belly hurts from all the vomiting. I purchased some slippery elm in gelatin capsules but I'm unsure how I should administer it. I tried making the slurry but it just came out like broth , it wasn't thick like every says. I tried putting some in her food but she wont go near her food right now. I don't know what to do. Also I can't feed her any dry food because her belly literally fills up with gas and she looks like a balloon 10 minutes after eating dry food, then she vomits and deflates. "this was typed on a phone so I'm sorry for the grammatical errors"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S I've seen 5 vets and none of them have been able to figure out what the grumbling, rumbling noises are in her belly before she vomits.

You've tried pretty much everything I can think of.. when my cat Rocky was having digestive issues I solved it by switching him to Natural Balance, feeding him in VERY small and frequent amounts, giving him Naturvet prebiotics and probiotics chews, and supplementing him with fiber. Rocky's stomach would make a lot of noise and he was very gassy, the vet told us this was because he had gas in him. I hope your cat starts eating.. and is able to keep something down. One time Rocky had a really scary episode where his stomach was so upset he kept vomiting. I had to not feed him anything for 12 hours, than I fed him small amounts of boiled chicken and rice. I hope you are able to find something that works for your cat.

Thank you for responding. My Lucy also has an issue digesting split foods. I used to make her chicken cutlets (plain, unbreaded) and chop it into little pieces but eventually she would vomit that back up. She can't hold down solid foods only wet foods that she can lick up. She has had x-rays and ultrasounds in the past and they always came out ok.

When this all first started I was feeding her like 7 times a day , basically a spoonful at a time but this destroyed me.feedings at midnight ,2,4am then getting up for work at 6am would drain me so for a few months I've just let her ear what she wanted until she stopped which has been working out great on the ziwi peak venison before last week.

You can give the capsules whole, if you can get them into her.  or mix with water and syringe that into her mouth if you want.  I don't know why it wouldn't get syrupy though, unless your SEB was defective.  Was you using a glass or stainless steel pot?  Maybe use too much water?  You want to make sure your SEB doesn't have other ingredients (fillers) in it either.

Here's a webpage that discusses the use of SEB and how to prepare it, etc:  http://www.felinecrf.org/holistic_treatments.htm.  I've used the microwave method, and it worked pretty well.  Callie still didn't like it, so I mixed it with a little tuna juice for her to lap it up.

One thing I have tried lately that has seemed to make my girl feel better though, is bone broth.  Don't know if that might help or hurt Lucy.  (my girls has kidney disease, NOT IBD)  I think it might be good though.  You can use any bones you can, so if you could source some unusual bones from somewhere, maybe you could try it.  I used beef, but next time will use chicken, just for a change.  If you know anyone who hunts, you should be able to get deer, elk, something like that.

P.S.  Did Lucy ever have a PCR test done to look for some particular difficult to find parasites?  I just wonder if it's possible that could be her issue?

I had a holistic vet and they had my cat take probiotics everyday, they gave me "RxVitamins for Pets Rx Biotic". I mixed it in liquid fish oil every morning and I noticed a difference. I give it to all my pets now. As per affordable food, Royal Canin has an gastrointestinal food, I don't recall it being too expensive. Have you had a blood test to rule out another issue? Throwing up is not normal, I'm sorry that 5 vets could not help you. I hope your cat find some relief soon!

Than you all for responding. My Lucy has had xrays, ultrasounds ,pli tests, and some other tests. Originally she was given predisilone 2.5 2x a day for the "ibd" and an antibiotic that was made for her that had 2 antibiotics and pepcid ac in it to treat possible heliobacter . I stopped both pills due to her vomiting more after each pill so I tried the diet approach which did work for some time. It's just the weird gassy hunger pang type sounds that are coming from her belly that I can't figure out. When these sounds happen is when she's in pain and then vomits. Tonight I'm going to try the seb again.

Also the SEB is made by "now" and I believe has magnesium in it.
