HI everyone.

I am trying to give one of my cats more protein/moisture in her diet. Victoria is a year or so old former stray, and has a two month old kitten who is still occasionally nursing. She will be spayed soon.

Victoria gets a Natures Variety Instinct and Fromm Kitten dry mixture. I add hot water and let sit until it is cooled and absorbed. My other cats get good wet food mixed in with their dry plus water, and I want to give the same to her but it is getting expensive :) I found a wet food for $0.80 a can that seems ok, but would rather just give her straight meat since it will probably be less expensive and has less filter.

Would 2-3 spoonfuls of lightly cooked ground chicken/turkey twice a day in addition to her regular dry be a problem? Would this amount be ok for my other cats too? I can't seem to find much information online, just homemade diets which I cannot do now.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Ground chicken/turkey is not nutritionally complete to feed a cat, so you should not make it any more than 15% of their daily intake.  As long as it isn't anymore than that, I don't see that it would be a problem, IF they eat it fairly quickly.  You don't want to have that mixture that you are describing sitting out all day.

BTW, lots of cans of cat food for $.80 are NOT full of fillers.  Fancy Feast CLASSICS are usually around $.50 - $.60 and are actually a decent food for tight budgets.  Very low in carbs, and don't even have carrageenan.
