Stray cat - pregnant or phantom pregnancy?

Hi everyone! I rescued a pregnant stray last week and by now I've read about a million posts on this site! But I'm looking for some reassurance...

A neighbor close to where I rescued her said she thought the cat had one or two weeks to go, last week. So she could be due now.

She has a slight bulge in her belly and erect pink nipples. She seems to have been eating quite a lot.

Last night she passed what I assume was her mucus plug - a brown "booger" as I saw it described elsewhere on her. She has a little bit of brownish discharge and she's been licking her vulva and her nipples pretty regularly. Also, about two hours ago she took a pretty giant ****! I've read that that can be a sign.

The thing that worries me is I've never felt the kittens moving, and I've also never heard her make a sound, not one meow or trill. She does purr a lot. And the discharge and nipples seem to indicate this is a legit pregnancy. So are the kittens likely to be stillborn? I know, I've read on here that some cats just are "packed more tight" and you can't feel the kittens, but I'm nervous. Is this cat really pregnant? And if so, how much longer will she be? Should I take tomorrow (Friday) off or is it more probably going to happen on a weekend?

I know the only one who can tell me is a vet! I just wanted to ask on here...

The kittens could have dropped into the birth canal.  When that happens you do not feel the kittens move as much.

I got her on Saturday and today's Thursday and I've never felt them, is it normal for them to be in the birth canal that long?

I think something is definitely happening, as she's started darting around into little nooks and I heard her first meow.

It does sound long.  If she doesn't seem in distress, she is fine.  The only way to know for sure is to take her to the vet for and x-ray or ultrasound.

Have you made a nest for her?

If she's having discharge she should deliver before too long.

Thanks for the quick replies! I was so impatient these last days!

I came home today to find one perfect kitten!

Just one! But she was never very big, and I never felt movement, so I guess it makes sense that there was only one hiding in there! Mama seems very content, is eating a lot. The baby is so cute. It was born about 32 hours after she discharged what must have been her mucus plug.

I'm glad the story is happy thus far! Will you be uploading any pictures of mama and baby?

Just letting everyone know that all is well! Baby is now about ten days old and is absolutely precious. His eyes are open (I'm pretty sure he's a boy!) and he's just starting to try to properly stand up.

I was quite nervous that since she only had one baby, the mama would not be attentive or wouldn't have enough milk, but that has definitely not been the case! They are both fat and happy :)
