Hi, My family recently adopted a new cat, we aren't certain, but we're pretty sure she is pregnant. We are hoping to keep her as a house cat until we can get her fixed, but this is my first time with a pregnant cat, I know they mainly do everything on their own, but I just wanted to know some facts and tips.

She is a Siamese cat mix, I was wondering what the average amount of kittens in a litter they usually have.

Also I have two other cats, a male and female, will they do anything to her or the kittens? Should I separate them once we are sure she is pregnant?

Thanks for reading, if you have any tips, like what to feed her or anything simple like that please share, also, sorry if I sound like a complete dumbo, I have never had a pregnant cat before and I'm pretty worried, most likely for no reason. :)

The exact same thing happened to me about 20 years ago and I had no idea what to do either. because it was an uneventful birth I don't remember too much of what I did other than find a quite secluded place for her to have her babies. I also let her eat as much as she wanted. There are others on this site with more experience they will chime is soon.

If she isn't too far along you can spay/abort the kittens at the same time.  the average pregnancy is 65 days.  I have heard Siamese carry longer.

Here are some articles you may find helpful.  there are other more specific articles a the top of this forum.

Keep using this thread for any questions you may have.  How old is the cat and is this her first litter?

I'm not exactly sure if this is her first litter, I'm pretty sure she's had kittens before, because when I found her, she had a kitten hanging around her, but she may have adopted it. She's a pretty young cat. I don't think she's that far into pregnancy, she's at the point where you can just tell that she's not fat :p just pregnant.

What happened to the kitten that was hanging around her?

And yes, at this point you can spay/abort before she gets any further along.

The kitten disappeared, but i was old enough to adopt, and I'm guessing one of the kids around the neighborhood found it.
