Just wanted to say thank you for all the threads on the site it has greatly helped me with the delivery of kittens from a very pregnant stray we took in a week and a half ago.
My question to people on this site is how long do we need to keep the babies temperature regulated? We live in a small park model camper with no extra rooms to put mom and kittens in so I'm having to leave her in the bathroom with the doors closed while we are working. We live in Florida it is very humid here so we do leave the air conditioner on all day but they are not in the direct draft of the air-conditioner. Also another question. What kind of containers or crates do you keep your mom cat and kittens in?

Things are going well so far kittens are doing well and so is the mom but I really do need this site and I'm very grateful for it

Hi, welcome to TCS!  I am sorry that I don't know the answers to your questions, but we have members who are experienced in cat and kitten care.  I hope that someone will be able to advise.

Kittens cannot regulate their body temp for the first 3 weeks.  So maybe 4 to be safe.  You can put a heating pad on low under a towel in part of the nest so they can move on and off as they get warm and cool.  They also have mom to help keep them warm.

Post some pictures when you get a chance.

If you live in Florida it's highly unlikely the kittens will get cold. I live here too and it's hot! A heating pad may not be necessary even with your a/c running.

I used a plastic tub with low sides lined with a blanket as a nest, but mine were ready to get out of it after 3 weeks, so be prepared to let them use your bedroom at that point.

Yes.....sounds like the same kind of tub we are using. It's going to be a challenge to keep them "corralled" I'm sure. What did you do? There are soooo many little nooks and crannies in this camper where they can crawl. Makes me very anxious to say the least.

Depending on the size of your camper, and I know they don't have much room as it is, but you could put a small playpen up in a corner or even "fence" off a corner or area once they are ready to get out of their nest. It's hard to make a camper kitten safe so it will just be trial and error.

Welcome to TCS

Everyone here is awesome!!!!

My stray had her kittens in a closet, then the mom brought them down the hall to my bedroom at 3 weeks, where they had the run of the room until they began going downstairs a few weeks later. I had to kitten-proof downstairs in a big way.

I suggest you kitten-proof the camper as much as possible. They are going to need to explore.
