Yes. It's not pretty. I've also stepped on them in the grass. That's not pretty either.

Oh yeah, I was stung by a bee and had to go to the hospital.  It was during lunch hour when I was still working and my arm blew up something awful.  I went back to work but they sent me to the hospital where they took out the stinger and gave me a shot.  I have to be very careful since I now know I am allergic to them.  When I see a bee or wasp, I'm gone.

Wasps love me. Three years ago, I managed to get stung three times in one day because there was a nest in a mailbox on a gate I had to open a couple of times. This past summer I only got stung once , which was surprising, given the number of wasps swarming around. I recall being stung by bees 2 or 3 times as a kid.

One of the women I work with got stung in a very sensitive place this summer - a wasp was in the roll of toilet paper she used!

WAY too many times.

The worst of which was being bitten by a Brown Recluse spider.  They are seriously poisonous.  It happened in Florida, darn thing was hiding in my pants leg and when I put them on, I felt a small pinch.  By the time the end of the work day arrived, my entire right leg was blown up, hot, throbbing, etc.

Went to an emergency doctor asap who diagnosed it.  If left unattended these kinds of bites wind up causing your skin to die off - necrosis.

Glad I had it taken care of quickly!

I've been stung by wasps twice in my life and both times I had a "large localized reaction." The first time I was 5 and sitting under a tree when a yellow jacket landed on my foot. I stayed calm until I watched it slowly lower its stinger into my foot. I freaked and screamed and jumped up, and it stung my leg which swelled so much I had to use crutches to get around. I remember going to register for 1st grade on crutches feeling very self-conscious.

The second time was about a year later I was mowing the lawn and went under some tree branches and something, probably a wasp, stung my arm. Same reaction - I had to wear a sling since my arm was so swollen I couldn't straighten it.

When I was about 10, I was painting the outside of our house (took me all summer) and I was on the top rung when a yellow jacket few towards me. I was so scared of those things that I automatically took a step back. Fell of the ladder of course, but I didn't get stung. My mother was really mad that I spilled a gallon of paint on the lawn.

Those yellow jackets in Texas are not like the nice little honey bees who sting you once and die. Those things will sting you over and over then happily fly away to sting another day.

Yep - been there, done that. I got IV antibiotics in the ER and still ended up with some necrotic tissue on my arm. It took about 6 months of antibiotics before everything healed.

I played in the woods when I was a kid and I was stung by bees plenty of times. A few years ago I was picking my tomatoes and I was stung by a bumble bee. It hurt a lot more than I remember it hurting.

A couple of times as a kid and once at school, bees flew up my shirt and stung both of my arms. I think I had like 4 or 5 stings that time.

I've been stung by bees a couple times.  The first time I was a little thing and I was stung on the finger.  I'm told I told my mother that I wanted to pet the bee.

I am allergic to them now.  It's fortunately been a long time since I was stung; and the reaction was taken care of with benadryl.

yup, and now I'm paranoid of those flying, stinging creatures! I know in my head it's really not that painful, but, they still cause me to panic when they come near me!

I did when I was younger but I haven't since then. It's no wonder because I'm always swatting at them when they fly around me.

I have gotten bit by ants several times and stung by a scorpion (that's as bad as a wasp sting)

I grew up on a farm so was stung many times mostly by wasps.  I always swelled a lot.  I haven't been stung in quite some time now.

I was also bitten by a brown recluse.  The spider was in my bra so you can imagine what that was like.  I was out of school for a week, I would've rather been in school.

I had a weird experience this summer- I'm pretty sure I was bitten by a spider. In the past, I've been stung by many bees, wasps, even mud daubers, so I know I am not allergic. But this bite was odd and made me ill for a couple months.

It was on the back of my thigh, so I think it happened either while I was sleeping (eeeee! that freaks me out!), or while I was in the yard taking care of the chickens. I didn't feel it when it happpened. My leg had what looked almost like a small welt from a hot poker, surrounded by raised bright pink flesh. The whole thing was about 10 inches in diameter. When say raised, I mean this sucker was about 1/2 inch high, the entire humongous thing. There were no holes or puncture marks anywhere. I was mildly nauseous all the time and ran a fever off and on for about three weeks. Plus, my lymphnodes were swollen, especially by my groin. No antihistmines helped, or ice packs or creams. It didn't hurt, but the whole area was really, really hot. None of us had ever seen anything like it. Finally, after about 6 weeks, it was starting to go down. Then I got bitten by an ant while doing a landscaping job and it swelled right back up again. :thud:

I don't have insurance, so I never went to the doctor. A couple times I almost went to the emergency room, but the probably $1000 bill always made me stay home. Plus, I figured if I was badly allergic, anaphylactic shock would have already occured. My husband or my roommate checked it every day to make sure there were no black spots forming or any bad changes. The whole thing freaked me out. I hate hate hate spiders and it makes me very anxious to know one bit me. I think maybe it was a mildly venomous spider? Not like brown recluse poisonous, but maybe a wolf spider. Aaaaggghhh. That makes my skin crawl, just thinking about it.

In my online research about spider and other insect bites, I found out some people get cellulitis (like an abscess) every time they are bitten by any insect and require antibiotics. The ant bites I got at work didn't produce a strange reaction (other than exacerbating my spider bite), so I don't think I've developed that issue. Thank goodness. I'm still a little nervous to see what will happen when I got bitten again by some insect. But so far, so good. It's been three months since the ant bite, and the spider bite has finally gone away. I really hope it stays gone for good.

definitely stung by bees through my life here and there, the last time being about two years ago. bee hive was inside an outer wall of my house, and they'd come and go via a hole some idiot (previous owner) must have put in for something or other. luckily the extra frigid winter that year killed off that hive. it hadn't had time to become a large hive, and i had located and made plans to have a beekeeper come to extract and rehome the bees (they were honey bees) in the spring if they survived the winter.

currently i have a wasp nest behind one of the shutters on my house. it's new this summer. i'll wait until it gets wintery-cold and then knock the nest down.

generally, bees love to hover around me. i'm not sure why they do. they usually buzz around behind my knees, but haven't had one sting me when doing that. i just ignore them, though i'm aware of them.

other bugs bite/sting me too. the worst bites for me have been mosquito and may fly bites, which swell up a lot and itch to high heaven. i keep a bottle of benedryl gel in my kitchen, at the ready for when i get bug bites.

Bees, wasps, yellow jackets, hornets. Now I have figured how to slap them out of the air without being stung. Then I step on them......several times. If they are in the house and you can get at them, take a can of Dust Air, turn it upside down, give them a blast. It freezes them and then you can knock them on the floor, squish them and throw them in the toilet. Bye-bye nasty stinging thing.

I was stung once by a wasp about 10-15 years ago. I was doing the washing up and it was in the sink. I'm ashamed to say I cried. That was the only reaction I got.
And once in my bedroom I saw something hanging down from the ceiling, pulled it down and got bitten by a spider. It became slightly infected and I almost went to the nurse but it went down by itself. My finger was very hot though.
