Hi Everyone.I have not posted in awhile.Nor answered many either.Health:( Anyways i am working with a lady who is dealing with Mega Colon.I belong to the yahoo group but have gone solo working with foreign country kitties which is in epidemic form. Here's the deal. Here in Canada royal Canin makes gastrointestinal High fiber Response dry catfood.purchased from vets only.It has been used for kitties with MC with very good results for most.I am helping a lady in the UK.Her link she sent me for the RC food does not have the same ingredients.Nor is the labelling the same.It basically says fiber formula on it.Knowing a lot about MC this can not be the wrong food or all H... will break loose.I am looking for anyone who may live in the Uk that may have used this product & the results.I called Rc here in Canada & they were clueless. It is made all over the world with different labelling & ingredients.I do not want her kitty to get bunged up being the wrong product. Also cisapride is not available to her as per our conversation. She is using emeprid(Reglan basically) or the same as Metoclopromide.Like comparing apples & oranges. Two totally different meds & actually meto is more for vomiting as it empties the stomach (Not well either) while cisapride starts stimulating nerves in small muscles right from the esophagus right down to the two sphincters kitties have.It won't be called cisapride there or anywhere close to there. It goes by many names.Any info would be greatly appreciated& hugs to all the babes.C

http://www.royalcanin.co.uk This is Royal Canin's UK site. The vet foods aren't easy to find on it, but doing a site wide search will bring them up.

As far as I can work out, cisapride is banned in the uk, even for animal use. The only references I can find to it on UK sites are from 2011. It's possible that it is now banned in Europe. The only other name I can find for it is Propulsid.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi Columbine. That was my posting looking for cisapride.I am working with a lady in  the Uk with a kitty with megacolon.I am still working  with her and yes cisapride is available in the UK after some major digging & emailing of many pharmaceutical companies. It is available in 2.5 tabs,5mg tabs and liquid oral suspension syringed ,non refridgerated, unlike most, and is made to the strength of 1ml syringe is equal to 5mg's of cisapride.Very nice man i dealt with an is an animal lover who was horrified that cat's were being euthanized when a diagnosis was made of MC.Her kitty, a Siberian BTW is pooping very well, on a low fiber food not the RC food but it too is available there. That food we have have a lot of kitties do very well on stressing point of additional water needs supplemented to your kitty becasue it contains psyllium husk & also it is not a solve all. Many kitties are still on cisapride as well as peg3350 but are going every day and their poo's are "Fluffy" Any one knowing poo's lke me will know the difference between a fluffy poo & something that was squeezed from a tube.Thank you for your response .All good brain food for all of us.That is what my mission is finding meds for MC in countries where it is not available.Cisapride or propulsid has been banned everywhere as with humans some people died. But in North America is still highly used in veterinary care.Rabbits being one who has major MC.Horses also. The 3 rd world countries it is a lot harder & takes perseverance.I persevere to help those with a disease that is manageable for many years &with an excellent quality of life.Hugs C.
