Three, I think.

A black Etienne Aigner bag that's pretty old now. But I still carry it from time to time.

A JCP hobo bag that I just love to use. It's big enough that it carries everything I need.

A burgundy Stone Mountain bag that is also big enough to carry all my junk.

There's a certain Coach bag, but I can't afford it.

ETA:  I really want this one, but can't afford it:  http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/burberr...erest&cm_cat=pinit&cm_pla=site&cm_ite=3327134   And it's lambskin and I refuse to go there.
Ooo that IS a very nice bag.

BTW, there are ways to get Coach Outlet, discounted.  One is through their own website - they run huge sales periodically.  You can get bags up to 40-50% off sometimes.  You have to sign up - the next "event" is 10/8

https://www.coachoutlet.com/store/default/customer/account/login/

There's another site that has authentic Coach also but I forget it at the moment.

Obviously I'm out of the purse loop, as I didn't realize "Coach" purses were the brand to have.   But then I'm not a big purse person.

As a vegetarian, I try to avoid leather products as much as I can.    In fact, I  was given a beautiful soft leather Michael Kors purse once, and re-gifted it, as I couldn't bring myself to use it.

Currently I have one everyday purse - a Nine West - non leather.    I also have another fabric one that I can wear over my neck for when I want my purse safer from falling off my shoulder, or being grabbed by someone.

Too many to count.  Mostly Coach - many vintage as this point; I've had a few of them as far back as I can remember.

Add in some fancy clutches, and one Louis Vuitton bag I splurged on after my divorce.

The Louis, looks like crap now and there's no way to repair it.  Buyer beware!
So the Coach bags lasted long enough to be considered vintage but the Louis Vuitton didn't ?  I guess people that routinely carry Louis Vuitton purses don't really care how long they last.  I have been using my Coach purse for almost 4 years pretty much exclusively and it is still in excellent shape.  The leather looks different than when it was new but it still looks really good.  I think the leather is actually softer now then when it was new.

I like the Coach bags because they are well made and stylish. I would not, however, pay full price for one. As mentioned above, I got mine for a really good price through an invitation only sale. Anyone can get in on  that though by using the link I posted above and signing up.

I got DD a signature black canvas crossbody bag that she really likes for $50 using that same 50% off sale. They do have nice stuff that isn't leather.

I wonder if it was a canvas one like the one below. I'd imagine that the canvas might get brittle after a while. That's why I like to stick to leather.  I would guess that most people who carry these on a regular basis have several and change them out frequently.  i've had my leather Coach for almost the same amount of time you have had yours and it's still in great shape. I use mine almost exclusively also.

Exactly!

The Louis, which was the least expensive of all of them and still a whopping $700, lasted only about 2 years at most. It developed a rip in the middle of the bag. There's no way to have it repaired because authentic LV's are one solid piece of material (hence why one side of the bag has the initials upsidedown - a good way to tell a fake from a real one!).  They'd have to take the entire bag apart which isn't cost effective.  It isn't even leather anyway - I forget what it is made of.

The Coach bags are pretty indestructible.  My oldest ones are easily from 25+ years ago and still look barely used.  I've been carrying around a dark brown saddle bag of theirs for months now and the only way you could tell it isn't new is the Coach tag on the chain, finally pulled apart into 2 pieces.

Just two - a very large brown leather Shalimar messenger bag that holds a ton of stuff, and a black leather waistpack (I'll avoid the usual U.S. term for it, because it's vulgar in British English) that's for everyday use.
I don't think you need to be embarrassed by the term bumbag. I Think it's used as an everyday word. I'll use the word when referring to the bag but not otherwise.

I think she means fanny pack, not bumbag. I believe that word (the one that starts with f) means something else in British English ;).

I don't normally carry a bag but I do have a cute little heart-shaped fake leather bag for when I need to.

Fanmy is American. Bum is British. They both mean the same thing.
I hate bags, I mean purses.
What do you do if you don't use a bag? 47 years ago, when I was young and slim, everything went into my jeans pockets.

In the US, fanny and bum may be synonymous, but not in the UK. In both places a bum is a rear-end, but in England, fanny is crude slang for vagina. I don't think the term 'fanny pack' is very marketable in the UK! :lol3:

Good Lord. I didn't know that! I haven't lived in England for 47 years so newish slang has passed me by. But I'd never call a fanny bag. Only a bumbag to be worn just above the bottom.
Thanks for the info.

Good to know they make non-leather bags as well.   Thanks.

I just added a few more pics. I think I'm done now. :lol3:

All of these were purchased at the Coach outlet store or Coach outlet online. The Mcihaels Kors one was from Abby for Mother's Day. ;) She got it at TJ Maxx.

I have three, only because someone gave me another one. I only have them because sometimes I just don't want to tote my wallet. I know very little about purses. They are just a tool to me, LOL.

I don't like carrying purses so I have a black handbag, a brown shoulder bag, and now a grey shoulder bag. They are all small because all I put in them is my wallet and check book.

So far it looks like @nicsd has the most purses ..... 35, with AbbysMom AbbysMom coming in second place with what looks like maybe 29. Congratulations ladies. I thought I had a problem with owing 13. :lol3:
