Hello! Last Tuesday of September already, wowza!
 Hope everyone is well!

Have your kitties done any accomplishments that you are proud of them for?

Recent or eons ago, big or small, doesn't matter

One example of mine just happened a couple days ago - Now, as some of you know already (and for those who don't) My Morgana is deaf, and she was never much of a vocal noise maker. At most, she makes little "roorooroo" sounds, and when she knows food is coming, only then she makes a raspy soft meow, like someone with a bad sore throat or who lost their voice.

But that evening a couple of days ago, while waiting for her dinner, she made her first real meow! a loud one! after five years! It was like "Roo...roo...err..err...mer... mer....MEOW!" with a lot of preparation before it. I was so darn happy
her lack of vocals never bothered me before, I was happy with who she was, but still couldn't help but be all giddy and thrilled with her new found progress or skill.

She continues to meow, and more often with less and less preparation ahead of time.

I know to the outside cat world people would barely understand why I was excited over something deemed so tiny and trivial, thankfully there is this wonderful community who could comprehend it all!

Sometimes when Autumn gets to the bottom of her wet food she uses her front paw as a fork and makes a complete mess.  The thing I am proud of is that lately she is cleaning it up, good girl.

Since my number one enemy is the mole, I was never more proud when my Casper drug one to me for a present! Even though I had to kill it, it was worth it!

We've had Cocoa for nearly 3 years now.  Suddenly, just in the past month or so, she will jump up onto the couch to come "sit with".

Mostly with my BF but sometimes to me also.  She'll plop down and relax for a long time as we pet her.  She's always been affectionate and very sweet but this is above and beyond because she's choosing to be near us.  I'm betting within the next year she becomes an actual lap cat

Mogli does very well with clicker training and obeys both hand and voice commands. He's quick on the uptake and can combine tasks. So much for cats being difficult to train!

I had rescued a mama and her kittens years ago and when all of them were on solid food id feed them together.from on large plate. I would hold her back to let her babies eat first and then her. She only required me to hold her back once or twice before she started doing it on her own and letting her kittens eat first, even though I was sure she was hungry too. I adopted all her kittens and kept her. She carried that courtesy over to feeding time with the rest of the cats I had. Very giving cat she was the Best!!!

...with the cats...
i'm very proud of both snick and jaspurr, and how their relationship has continued to move forward.  just recently, jaspurr has found ways to play with snick. he's wanted to play with snick for a while now, but he also knows that she's older and more frail than he is. so he started a game of 'hidey seekey' several evenings ago, scrinching down behind a cat lounger in the living room and looking at me and snick -- the look on his face telling me that he was wanting to play. i told snick that jaspurr had thought of a game to play, and asked snick 'where's jaspurr? let's go see if we can find him!'  and snick headed into the living room looking around for jaspurr, with me following her. she found him pretty quickly, and jaspurr popped up and gently tapped snick on her head. i quickly told snick that that tap on her head means that next time we play hidey seekey it will be our turn to hide and jaspurr will come looking for us. what i'm most proud of is that snick wanted to play the game with jaspurr and she didn't hiss when jaspurr gently tapped her head, and that jaspurr (who is very smart, very clever) had found a way to play with snick that they could both enjoy.

I was very proud of Luke when he groomed Lucien's head after Lucien came home from his neutering. He'd mostly avoided him before and I was so happy to see him being so sweet I could have cried. Unfortunately their relationship quickly went back to the way it was before, but it was a nice moment while it lasted. I'm also proud of him whenever he covers Lucien's litter box messes.

Our feral kitten my husband found outside when she was 5 weeks old uses the litter box. Diamond also fetches and DH is teaching her to jump up on the cat tree for treats. She will sit and stand on her hind legs for treats!

With Tiger... it was playing with toys. I adopted him when he was 5 and he didn't know how to play with toys. And when he started playing with catnip toys he really got into it. I have his favorite crunchy "squirrel" (it's a fat cat toy has crunchy stuff in it that holds cat nip, I guess) on the top of his urn. I miss my boy... he loved to play. He would get annoyed if you bugged him with a feather teaser though. I don't think he liked them very much.
And accepting Angel from the day she was brought home. I thought they would fight, but nope he groomed her like he had been friends with her forever (she was 6 weeks when brought home). She was loved by him for almost 6 years (she was 5 when I had to put Tiger down). And to be loved by Tiger was an honor. He was so special.. my best feline friend.

Miagi.... tolerating Angel after I had to put Tiger down. But, this took a few months.. He never had to bother with her because Tiger took care of her. At first, he was hissy and spitty (and made noises I have never heard him make because he's such a loving cat.) but it took him awhile to say hey ok let's not be mean. She just wants to play. They'll sort of play; but at Miagi's convenience. She is sort of pushy because that's her personality.. she loves to play. But she really just plays with me not really mr. grumpy gills but I am proud of Miagi for not being a jerk to her.

Angel... for being so loving after I had to put our hound down Buster (he was very sick and we think he had cancer we had him since a puppy) , then Tiger suddenly. I lost Buster in December and Tiger in February. :( I guess the oldies go together that's what happened with my two dogs Rocky & Jenny oddly enough it was the same time frame December 2008 for Rocky and February 2009 for Jenny.

When I cry at night Angel will just lay on my chest and purr and lick my tears away.
She's a brat sometimes but that's just her personality. But she is truly an Angel now. She is still feisty at times but that's what makes her Angel. :) I love her and Miagi very much.

Hydrox, The Old Coot, could sit up on his hind legs to beg for a treat. He knew how to shake paws. If he was hungry for a snack and I didn't pay attention, he'd come over to me and stick his paw out for a shake. I knew what that meant and how do you refuse that?? You don't. And he knew it. He was also very attuned to me, even more so than Banshee was. When Rick was in the hospital (they had to remove part of his intestine), I came home from being with him one night. And I sat on the couch and started to cry. Hydrox jumped up on the couch, walked over and sat down next to me. Not in my lap, but next to me. He looked up at me with those golden eyes of his and he meowed. I think it was his way of saying, "Mom, it's gonna be OK." He knew when I needed him and he never let me down. He was 20 when he died and, in all those years, he was always right there.

BooBoo is deaf....he lost his hearing within the past couple of years. So he and I learned some sign language. And when he's hungry, he watches every move I make. When I know he's hungry and I know he's watching, I'll put my hands together three times. That's our sign for "snack" and he knows it well.

I love reading all these things our cats have learned how to do. They are each so special in their own way. Max my the smartest cat I ever had. He learned how to play Hide and Seek. I could say to him, "Max, I am going to hide from you." He would stand still, give me time to go hide, then he would search each room until he found me. He also watched me each morning doing my workout on the treadmill. One day he decided to do it to. He got up in front of me and walked until he had enough. Then he would get off. We have a video somewhere here of us walking together. He has been gone sine 2005. I wrote and made a booklet of his life story and pictures of him. It helps keep those memories of him alive each time I pull it out, I read and remember.
