I think you misunderstood my question. I asked if you had decided NOT to spay/abort.

Clearly, and as was discussed earlier in your thread, Nov. 10th will be too late, as that is 40 days away, and cat pregnancy is 65 days. Since you can tell that she's pregnant, she's already 3-4 weeks along at least.

She'll have either already had the kittens by then, or be too far along to abort. It is not healthy to perform a late term abortion.

And if she's just had them, she can't be spayed either, so that appointment to spay will need to be postponed.

Which means the answer is you are allowing the pregnancy to continue.

What are your plans for the kittens?

Sorry yes that was my misunderstanding,
Yes I have decided to not to abort because because of the finances , it is not my
preference if I can find something cheap now I will do it.

Yes by then it is too late, I will just let her have the kittens, And not risk the late term abortion.

A woman with Companion Cats said she will go with me to
Petco and we can adopt them out for $65 That will cover vaccines and
Neuter/Spaying for the kittens.
I hope this is cleaner.

Personally, I am glad that you adopted this beautiful cat, and that the kittens will get help and nurturing once they enter this world. Will the same woman at Companion Cats help with either showing you how to foster the kittens well? or help to find someone to foster the kittens once they are weaned, if you are unable to help care for them for very long? I am sure there are plenty of people here with experience and knowledge who could give you online advice and encouragement along the way. There are also good past threads to search for in The Cat Site search engine box regarding fostering and socializing young kittens if you perhaps have not done this before.
Best wishes to you and to your beautiful mama kitty! May all the kittens find good forever homes!

 Hi,

Yes I believe she will they are all super helpful there, I do believe they have people that will help foster them. It will be hard to care for them for that long if they are not adopted at Petco

then I will have to bring them back home and try again.   Thank you for your help and encouragement.

They should not be separated from their mother until they are 12 weeks old. They need the time to become well socialized and be taught kitten manners.

Many times rescue organizations and pet stores want to separate kittens as young as 6 weeks and put them in a cage. This is not good for the kittens since they have a mother and are not orphans.

Pet stores do not necessarily screen buyers either, so who knows where they will end up. You need to be careful of the choices you make for these kittens that will soon become your responsibility.

Yes that does make sense, No I would not take them away young I will wait until they are at least 12 weeks to adopt them out., they also act much better as adults.

It would seem like the pet stores and rescue places would know better.

     Thank you again

I do not live in the area where "Companion Cats" seems to be based (Michigan), and have no idea if they are an organization that wants "... to separate kittens as young as 6 weeks and put them in a cage. This is not good for the kittens since they have a mother and are not orphans" as you mention to the OP -- but in looking at their web site, I do not get that impression. They seem fully aware of fostering and socializing kittens till "of age" (and trying to aid in the socializing of feral or semi-feral cats, if able). They have volunteer opportunities for fostering animals, etc., and their web site states (via screening and application, etc) that they seek to place animals in environments that best fit each cat. Their application seems fairly standard, though I have seen rescue orgs have more stringent applications/screening. I don't see on their site when the organization was founded, but in looking just a little bit around the web, it seems Companion Cats has been working and placing animals since at least 2011.

In my area, several rescue orgs work closely with stores like Petco and others in that they often take an upper hand in trying to place adoptable animals into good homes (versus your comment, "Pet stores do not necessarily screen buyers either, so who knows where they will end up".) They have volunteers go to the pet stores (like Petco) on adoption days, and do the screening of prospective owners. They get involved.

Again, I do not have familiarity with Companion Cats per se, but it seems to me that Addeline is starting to do a good thing by interacting with them while in the process of caring for a new pregnant mama kitty. I definitely understand generally what you are trying to say, sarthur2, about the worry about various rescue orgs and pet stores, but my impression in looking at their site is that Companion Cats may not be such a place. Adeline can research this further, of course!

One good thing is that many rescue orgs may be having a less busy time right now since the bulk of what is considered "kitten season" is over. This will give them a bit of breathing space to focus on good fostering and the placing of animals, if they do not put enough emphasis on this already. People here like yourself, sarthur2, who are experienced in kittens, can help Addeline in the coming months with advice, too.

I am hoping the outlook is good for the kittens inside of Addeline's new mama kitty :D

Yes it is  Michigan based where I live,  I really hope there is more organizations like Companion Cats, I only know that they are ALL volunteer based.  They are all so helpful and friendly.

Addeline, what is your mama kitty's name? You could keep using this forum thread to keep us updated on her health and progress, and how you are doing, too.

Her name is Opal,

I do have a question she is a Indoor/outdoor kitty but lately she is staying in more. Every morning take I her out to our  barn where there is shelter, food and water just for the day or a part of the day until she starts asking to go out on her own so she can get exercise.  should I keep her inside like she wants or continue to put her out?

I would personally recommend you keep her indoors only, now and in the future. Shelter, food and water can be provided in your house, I should think. And safety, too.

She is still getting used to our other pets three cats and two dogs, So she does not like coming down to ask to go out Its is just she is being so lazy lately, I thought it would help her get Exercise, until she is able to ask to go out then she can go and come as she pleases. but all she does is sleeps, eats a ton and wants attention more then usual .

Thanks

Update

We rescued Opal six weeks ago Saturday, So she has to be six weeks or more. So yesterday I felt the kittens moving it was such little movements,  She is such a small cat  I am thinking three kittens at the most If she is pregnant I am still not sure, We have the appointment November 10th to have her spayed I will most likely cancel it but I will see, I have been feeding her High quality cat food.  So like two or three weeks more??

I would not get her spayed now. Late term spays are not good for many reasons. She is too far along. It's good you are feeding her a high quality cat food.

Yes, once you feel kitten movement there is usually 2-3 weeks more to go.

Ok then Yes I do not want to have her spayed because it is risky, And  I do not  want to risk her health,

I am guessing this is her first litter, I  am thinking  She is about 10 months old, I have heard they have small litters when they are younger, she is not huge like I thought she would be So I am just assuming a small litter.

Thank you for the help

I feel badly that she is having kittens at such a young age. It probably is a small litter.
