My cat has just had kittens and she won't feed them at all. She just keeps coming to me. So I have put them next to me and stroking them as well as her but she just doesn't want to know. She's quite young herself and I really don't want these kittens to die but I cant afford a pet bill. She's eating normally and everything.

Go get Kitten Milk Replacer and a 1 or 2 mL syringe and hand feed them every 1 or 2 hours. Hold the baby tummy down, head up. Also, try pushing mama on her side and placing the babies to her nipple. she might not know what she's supossed to do. If she nurses them after you do that, they should be fine.

Also, how old are the kittens?  1 hour, 6 hours?  are they crying or quiet?  Can you obseve them from a vantage point where mom's attention isn't on you.

When kittens are very first born they don't eat a great deal, and of course mom wants your attention, she just went through a big deal!.  If the kittens are not crying, give mom a chance.  Instincts will tell her how to care for them, even if she is very young.  If you start intervening at this point, you are in for a few VERY BUSY weeks.  In addition to feeding them, you will have to stimulate them to wee and poo, and will have to make sure to keep them warm enough, but not too warm as a kitten is unable to regulate its own temperature.

You need to put the mama cat in a bedroom with the kittens and close her in so she can't come to you. Then you can go in and check on her periodically. Sometimes it takes new moms 24 hours to adjust to motherhood. Mom's milk is best, so you want to close her up with the kittens and see if she'll take over.
