I'd much rather shop online and aside from groceries, I do most of my shopping that way. it's easier to compare prices, I'm not using gas driving from store to store, no traffic, no waiting on lines, I don't have to navigate through the store (and the crowds) to find what I want, I can shop in my pajamas with a cup of coffee and since I do most of my online shopping through Amazon, I get the free 2 day shipping from my Prime membership. A lot of stores have cheaper prices online than in store. Petco is just one of them. I priced a bucket of litter online, it was $9.99. In store? $14.99.

So unless it's something I need right away or groceries, I don't shop in store. I don't see the point.

Except for groceries, we do both. And I am finding that, as time goes on, I probably tend to do more online than B & M shopping. It's just so much easier to get what we want online, esp for Christmas shopping for the grands. I don't mind waiting on shipping; there is nothing that I need right NOW. A few weeks ago, I was out at the mall to look for some fall clothing and boots. And found virtually nothing; to be fair, I was probably early as it was mid-August. I came home, started shopping online and bought two pairs of boots and some sweaters. I have found that online shopping has a greater variety of items and often for cheaper prices. The boots shipped free and the shipping for the sweaters wasn't that much.

As Kat0121 said, you don't have the lines, you don't have to deal with the traffic, you don't have to pay for gas, you don't have to deal with people (esp with all the crazies out there during the holidays), and you can shop in your PJs with a cup of coffee at your fingertips. Most stores are starting to offer free shipping with certain purchases or if you reach a certain amount. But even if you have to pay for shipping, it's OK with me, simply because I'm not dealing with everything else.

Last year, Rick wanted a saw bench for Christmas. I checked at Lowes and I checked Home Depot, both online. Saw what I wanted at Home Depot and had it shipped to Rick's parents (because they're home during the day and Rick and I are not). It got to his parents' house in 3 days and shipping at the time was free. Rick went up in his truck and brought the bench home. You can't beat that. You just can't.

Stay away from QVC....unless they have free shipping. I think that's a racket, although they have reduced their shipping for some items. But geez, til you pay for the shipping for some of their stuff, the price gets to be ridiculous and I think they make most of their money on shipping charges. If there's something on QVC that I think I'd like to have, I get it from Amazon. Most of the time, it's cheaper and the shipping is free at Amazon with Prime or once you get to a certain amount.

The catch? Make sure you pay your credit card off every month or it could get ugly.

Amazon Prime is worth every cent. Right now we have the Prime student because DD has a .edu email address. They let you use that for 4 years and we're 2 years in. I will pay full price for it though. I make it up in shipping and then some. They lose money on me in shipping. I just bought an entire bed from Amazon. King size frame, headboard/footboard, box spring (not really a box spring, more like a platform for a memory foam mattress), the memory foam mattress and a hypoallergenic, waterproof (kittyproof) mattress cover. All of it delivered in about 6 big, heavy boxes. I saved a LOT of money from not going to a B&M store that has salespeople and overhead. The bed is really nice. I had to let it air out a couple of days before I could use it (or should I say WE could use it. I know the kitties will be all over it).

The new sheets are coming today from Amazon (of course). MUCH better selection and prices than any B&M store (I priced all of my local stores from their websites). I will wash them when I get home and we will be in business. I know Lilith and Sophie are excited about it. Sophie supervised me putting the whole thing together and she and Lilith have been lurking by the door wanting me to open it so they can go lounge on it. There is a twin sized bed in the cat room right now that Henry likes to sleep on but I know he will join us once he figures out that L&S are sleeping with me. There will plenty of room for all 3 of them and me if they are feeling generous enough to give me a spot.

I LOVE shopping online! Especially at Christmas and especially at Amazon. You just type in what you are looking for, and then there are 50 to choose from, it's great! I don't see a reason to pay $99 for Amazon Prime, I can wait the 4-5 days it takes for free shipping, and if I don't have 35.00 worth to get free shipping, I put what I'm looking at on my wish list and save it for when I do find something else.  Sending things back is easy if you save the box, you pay for shipping back, but then they reimburse you. Out of 100's of things I have ordered I've only sent things back twice. Sometimes I do like to browse in the little 'specialty' shops to find a nice gift, sometimes I'll see what I like and then order the same thing cheaper on the internet.

I prefer going to stores in person just because I enjoy shopping. It gets me out of the house and I get to walk around and look at lots of different things and make a fun day out of it. But I do more shopping online because it's more convenient and prices tend to be cheaper for most things. It's also a lot easier for me to find clothes I actually like online, and with Amazon Prime we get things fairly quickly.

Same here. 90% of DD's and my clothes come from Kohl's. They are about 30 minutes away from me. They have amazing sales once a month where you can get 15, 20 or 30% off including sale items and free shipping if you use your Kohl's charge card. I always get the 30% off code from my favorite freebie website. They send me the free shipping code. I just ordered a top and a cardigan from them. They had a code on the site for $10 off a $40 order of women's clothes. I used that, the 30% off, the free shipping and $10 Kohl's cash I had. I got them both for $19 shipped. I never, ever pay full price with them. I end up paying WalMart prices for much better stuff.

If I need to return anything, I stop in at the store on the way to see DD. That way, I don't have to make a special trip.

We have Amazon prime and it is worth it for us!  We first got it because we got rid of cable TV and bought 2 Roku players to stream Amazon and Netflix.  But the Prime shipping, music and book benefits have been great!  Their prices on things sometimes beat Walmart!  (It's happened both with printer ink and the laminator I got.)  I use the Camel aop to track prices of things on Amazon.  It sends an e-mail when the price drops to an amount you specify.  I was able to get a good deal on the scale I use for the cats and some puzzles I wanted but didn't like the price on.  I've also gotten good deals on toys and  things like that.

When it comes to clothing and shoes; especially for myself, I will shop in store.  Kohls mostly.  But there are some other stores we like for clothing and shoes.  I will do some online shopping for kids clothing; if they don't have the item I want in store.  For example; I love the yoga pants for girls that Kohl's Jumping Beans brand carries.  They also have nice everyday jeans for little boys. But so many times they have been out of stock in store for the size my kids are.  I try to shop only when I have a 20% or 30% off from them.  So I'll either go to the kiosk in the store or go home and shop online.  If you shop in store; you get free shipping.  My feet are large; so there are times they carry my size online but not in store. So I've taken the shoes I like to the kiosk, scanned them and purchased the right size that way.  It's very helpful and I can still use the percent off.

I WISH we would get online grocery shopping here.  I'd still go to purchase meat and produce; but that would save me time and headaches

I've never liked to shop, and now that I no longer work in a large city the number of stores is pretty limited. We've got Amazon Prime and use it all the time. Amazon's extremely convenient, reasonably priced, with a wide selection - what more can you ask for? I buy pet supplies from online shops, too. The prices are lower and nothing has to be lugged home.

I agree. I think the Prime membership is worth every cent. I love the subscribe and save program, too. I have about 30 items in my S&S and i go through them once a month, skip what I don't need and keep what I do in the order. It's so convenient and all my items are Prime eligible so I get them in 2 days. If Amazon was a man, I'd marry him. He'd be the perfect husband. He has everything I need and great customer service. He's also really rich!!

What if the boots or clothes either don't fit or don't suit?

Sure do. Since I buy the majority of my and my daughter's clothes from Kohl's (US department store chain), I usually stick to a few brands that I know fit us well. If something don't fit or we end up not liking an item, I return it. The store is on the way to her school. If the item was mine, I stop off on the way there. If it's hers, I stop off on the way home since I have all her stuff delivered to her at school when she is there. No big deal.

Do they.post abroad?
So far I use Amazon UK and things go to my sister and she brings them when she comes. However, come April she'll have moved here permanently so there goes my delivery service.
Do they deliver abroad? I already pay in Israeli currency.

I positively hate shopping!!  The only thing I don't mind shopping for is kitchen related stuff like small appliances, kitchen gadgets, kitchen decor like dishes, towels etc.

Groceries:
I don't mind shopping for groceries, but I hate bring them home an unpacking them.  I tend to get my groceries delivered because I have a lot of back pain and am not able to carry my own groceries.  Unfortunately we don't have online grocery shopping where I live, so I have to go shop in person and then pay $15 to have them delivered.

Clothing:
I seriously hate shopping for clothes. In fact I hate it so much that back in the 1990's I almost exclusively sewed my own clothing. That way I could make whatever adjustments I needed to the pattern and guaranty a proper fit the first time around.  Plus I have a short inseam and unless I buy petite pants, I have to chop off more than 6 inches from the pant leg which means that hemming isn't just hemming; it involves re-tapering the pant leg.  I'm also a large girl, and carry weight around my middle/hip area. So when something fits up top, it likely doesn't fit around my abdomen or hip area.  I'd rather wear a potato sac than go shopping for clothes!!

Shoes:
I didn't mind shopping for shoes at one time before I broke my ankle and had surgery in 1990.  Before then I could buy all sorts of cute styles and heel heights.  Since I had ankle surgery, I am only able to wear track shoes, so I just go to Foot Locker and point to the type I'm wearing and give them the size.  I can't even wear sandals.

Everything else:
Hate it!  LOL

I tend to shop online for what I can. I like the convenience of having it delivered to my door.

Looking back, I didn't always hate shopping. I can't say that I ever really loved shopping, but I didn't mind doing it, and I even found myself in malls or department stores just browsing and leisurely shopping for things.  But I've had a very bad back for so long, and I've gained weight, so both have made shopping a very unpleasant experience.  I go to place that have a shopping scooter that I can use, and those times shopping isn't such a chore, so it is not as unpleasant as it would be if I were trying to walk around.  But I still much prefer being able to shop online when possible.

They do through a service called myus.com. Apparently, a lot of US stores use this service for overseas shipping
