At the rescue, my 3 year old girls were eating 2 cans a day each of Pro Plan wet food. I want to switch them to something higher quality and a mix of wet and dry. Today is our second day with them. I have out half the daily recommended amount (per cat) of dry, and split a can of wet this morning, planning to do the same tonight. They are happily eating both wet and dry food, and drinking water.

Is this acceptable? Should I swap over slower? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Oh, I know that wet food is important, but that stuff is COSTLY. I was considering maybe making something at home to supplement the wet instead? Any tips or thoughts on that?

99% sure the dry I have is grain free. I definitely plan on keeping them on a mix of the two, just not sure how slow/fast I should introduce the dry.

I think  a diet of 1/2 wet  & 1/2 dry is fine if that is what works for you .. If they are eating good the way that  you are doing it now and they are no digestive issues than they should be fine ..

Awesome. They are definitely content eating what they have. I  need to make them a well visit appointment this week too, since we just got them. I think they might  be a little underweight, but I just might not be used to kitties at an appropriate weight. I'll have to see what the vet says and adjust from there!

I forgot to say Congratulations on your new babies .  I am glad they are adjusting well ..  Feel free to post some pics ..

My cats eat a 50/50 diet as well . It is what works best for us ..

Thank you! It was completely spur of the moment to get them, but they were so good playing with our little boy, that we just had to!
