Hi all I am hoping someone can offer some advice to me. My cat suzi is 9, last Monday her eye was swollen and badly infected, I took her to the vet and she had an antibiotic jag and had to take 2 tablets a day until last Saturday. I took her back to the vet this Monday as the infection and cloudiness has cleared up but her pupil is still dilated and her iris is a different colour and the vet seen her for no more than 2 mins advising to keep doing what I'm doing as her eye is getting better however I am worried because I don't think it is and I know it can be a symptom of something more serious... Any advice is welcome

Thanks

Yvonne

Does your cat's pupil get smaller when you shine a flashlight/bright light at it? Pupil dilation can be a sign of blindness. For example, when my rabbit went blind, the vet looked at his eyes with a bright light and showed me that the pupils were not constricting at all. If the iris is redder/browner, it may just be recovering from bleeding or any damage caused by that infection. That eye infection sounded pretty bad, but it does sound like it's getting better; if I were you I would write down the questions you have for the vet before you go in, that way you can show him the paper with your questions and he will be more obliged to take the time to answer them. Sometimes when you're worried about a pet in the vet room you forget what you want to ask and everything happens so quickly that you realize once you're in the car driving home that you never got to say what you wanted!

You might want to get a second opinion or look for a vet who specializes in ocular problems.
