So i found a litter of kittens but only had enough room in my house for one and he does great but over the last 3 days ive had a problem. Whenever im done feeding him and im stimulating him to go to the bathroom. He meows very loud and girgles and spits up his formula. Could this just be gas maybe? Or can it be a serioud problem if it is worms i have dewormer here that i just gave him his first dose tonight

When you're feeding him, have you been extra careful that he hasn't been getting his formula/food down his windpipe? It sounds to me like he might have aspirated his formula...

Just curious where are the others?

What are you feeding this baby? Are you bottle feeding or using a syringe?

How long ago did you find them?

Yes actually he sucks it right out of the bottle.but my dad said he had been drinking it so fast he choked on it a little and it come out of his nose. As for the other kittens they are in a box at my work outside they are fine because momma cat is taking care of them. I found them last friday took 2 of them to the vet before i took one back she was dehydrated to got them both fluid shots then took one back to the mom. Im using a milk replacement formula and going according to the directions which is 1 tbsp of formula then i use 3 tbsp of water instead of 2 to prevent constipation. Once he eats ill pat him on the back after i clean him so he get most of the fluid up hopefully this is helping but he has a strong cry and eats then falls asleep

I havnt squeezed the bottle and forced any into his mouth he just latches on and when hes done he will release the nipple and close his eyes and relax for a minute then vigorously looks for the bottle again most of the time he sucks on my fingers instead of the bottle

I would suggest keeping an eye on him. Kittens can commonly get milk in their nasal passages while eating, which is not usually a problem. However, they can very rarely get the liquid into their lungs (especially when bottle or syringe feeding) which can cause serious issues like pneumonia. Just keep an eye on him for the next few days. If you notice any respiratory issues (rapid breathing, shallow breathing) seek vet care immediately.

By the way, is the mother a stray? If you can't take all of them in you might want to take momma and her remaining kittens to a no-kill shelter or your local humane society so that they can be properly cared for and looked after until they can find homes.

That kitten doesn't look old enough (6 weeks) to be given a dewormer. Did you administer that under the advice of your vet??

Also, don't pat the kitten on his back. You are running the risk of forcing any fluids in his mouth/nose into his airway potentially causing aspiration pneumonia! It will not help him expel it. If anything, just gently place him (belly down) across your thigh with his head slightly lower than his body and allow gravity to drain any excess out of his mouth. Better yet, if he is snorting or coughing it out on his own, let him do it himself.

All of them, mother and kittens should be seen by a vet. If he has worms already, they probably all have worms. Mother cats usually pass them to their kittens through breast milk.

And be careful when you crede the bladder 'stimulating him to go to the bathroom' (why do you feel this necessary?) because if he has a full bladder you could rupture it. If you are attempting to move his stool along, be SURE you are massaging in the right direction or you could cause a blockage. Is he not urinating or passing  stool on his own?

Please, don't self medicate or treat and get you pets to a vet! That's what they are for.

My vet just advised that we dewormed our newborn kittens and they were born on August 6th, we dewormed a few days ago. What kind of de-wormer did you give him? The most you should keep an eye on is to make sure he doesn't get dehydrated from diarrhea while deworming.

As for the kitten and the milk issue. Are you making sure to not feed him on his back? That could be the problem.

Not feeding him on his bacl he cannot excrete urine or feces on his own yet and yes i am foing this correctly he is very young the vet prescrubed me and gave me the dewormer for yhe cat specifically and told me to give it to him. I dont feed on his back. And he doesnt cough or anything he meows and then its kinda a gurgling meow then he spits up. I let him do this until he lets it all out. He seems fine though
