Sorry for making a new thread about this, but I didn't see a recently active thread regarding lysine for cats and I'd hate to necropost.

My 15 week old kitten recently came down with an URI. She's been taken to the vet, had her checkup and is being given 0.4mL of Azithromycin a day to help with it. It seems to be working a bit - the sneezing and coughing is less frequent and she's not as bubbly when she breathes or meows. So while things are looking up there, I wanted to try and help her out when it came to her immune system. One to speed recovery along, and two to maybe prevent her getting sick again, since this is now her second URI. (The first happened before I adopted her from the Humane Society.) I've heard great things about giving lysine to cats, which is why I'm considering starting her up on the stuff.

Would the standard 500mg dosage (250mg twice a day) of lysine be safe for her in addition to the antibiotic she's already taking, or is she too young to be taking vitamins/supplements like this?

For those curious, these are the chews I'm actively considering for her:
Any help or even thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Personally, I would think it safe, but why don't you ask your vet? Lysine is used for helping the cat's immune system fight herpes virus, which causes runny eyes and noses. It may not help with all URIs.
