Hey guys,

My big 3 year old guy Rocco had PU surgery on 3rd September due to 2 blockages due to crystals despite being on hills food/additional water etc.

His urination has been great, his stitches are out and generally he seems much like himself.  He's on the Hills C/D reduced calorie wet food with a few of the kibble in and lots of additional water.  He's also taking antibiotics and cystaid twice daily.

My problem relates to pooping!! He didn't go to the toilet for a few days after we got him home and I noticed little hard pellets of poop on the floor/sofas/in his bed.  We got him some lactulose and he had a big bowel movement.  However here's been a few more of them this week.  I've been giving him lactulose on and off (its very sugary so I'm wary!) and he's been going to poop every couple of days I'd say...no straining.

Twice I have noticed poop hanging out his bum by like half a cm.  Today it has happened but he doesn't want to go in the litter.  I'm so paranoid this is incontinence.  When he has a big bowel movement, he seems to get it in the litter but these small pellets (malteasers size) seem to just fall out of him!  I picked him up the other day and one fell out :|

The vet today was kind of vague and prescribed Peridale, for fibre. He said it may be due to the surgery but that it's a different bodily system to urination so he finds it unlikely.  I'm so worried he's incontinent, do you think this sounds like just constipation???  We've had a good number of these small poop balls about the place now.

Thanks,

Laura xx

he has just done it again - had a poo in his litter (again, lots of little bits of poop) and then got on the sofa and one was next to him. it's not getting caught on his butt but just seems to be falling out :(

Yes it sounds like constipation that may need an enema by the vet as the laxative Doesn't look like it's working.
