Last night, my boyfriend found a stray kitten. I would guess she is somewhere around 7 weeks. It appears she had been attacked by a dog and her lower lip isn't connected to her gums. The injury was bloody and fresh so we rinsed it to get the grass and other debris out. We have no idea what to do next. My vet retired a few months ago and our other option is out of our price range. So far we've been unable to find anyone to take her in and afford her vet care. I have access to an antibiotic given to a dog with skin issues but I can't remember the name and can't check because I'm at school. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we should do to help the poor thing because we have no idea.

You could turn her in to the humane society so they can take care of her and then they will adopt her out.

Trying to treat her at home with a dog antibiotic might work, but she may need stitches...hard to tell.

Honestly, it seems like the best interest for you and the kitten is to give her to the humane society or to a non profit, no kill animal shelter. They will treat her with best possible care and put her into adoption or foster her. An organization called "The Pet Fund" helps fund vet bills, but it takes weeks to go through. You can also insure her, which would, again, take a while. Until then, take a medicine syringe for toddlers and insert wet food mixed with formula into the corner of her mouth, far enough that she can just swallow it. Remember to insert a minuscule amount of food at a time. You can do the same for water.
You can also attempt to carefully clean the wound and apply antibiotic cream and temporarily rapping it with bandages. You also have to think that, if you can't afford vet care now, how will you later?

I live in the middle of nowhere so I don't really have a good place to take her. I already considered that but with the massive stray cat problem we're having this year, she'd surely be put down. On another note, the injury is not nearly as bad as I thought. Her lip is a little torn but it's already starting to heal. Once she's healed fully, do you guys have any tips for rehomimg her? I can't keep her but I really don't want her to go to the shelter we have here.

I'm glad she seems better than you thought!  That's great.

As far as trying to rehome a kitty in a place that has massive strays already, it sounds like you're going to have a problem there.  All you can do that I know of is make her as cute as possible in pictures or in public when showing her to potential buyers.  And I say buyers because you only would want to actually give her to someone you KNOW, since there are people out there who will take free kittens and use them for terrible things.  If they have to pay for them, they wlll usually go on to the next one.

So, by making them cute, one person puts them in little baby onesy's (this works particularly well for black cats who aren't as popular for some reason) for the "photo shoots"  Here's a picture:

Isn't that adorable?  So there's a place to start.   Then just tell everyone you know about this sweet kitten you need to find a home for.  Post signs everywhere....pet food stores are always a good place.  Petfinders is a good place (I think), and see what happens.  But beware, she may just wrap her little paws around your finger and not let go
