My cat is 17 yrs old and in the past 2-3 days her breathing has been getting worse she sometimes coughs or spits up thick flyid or mucus and i have to whipe her mouth off she weezes doesn't move around much she didnt eat much today pottys ok and hiding in the bathroom as soon the vet opens up im calling them for an appointment anyway anyone have an idea what this could be? Could this be congestive heart failure ? It seems worse then an infection in my opinion this all came on sudden also she would have sneezing and coughing choking fits all at once and thats when the icky fluid /mucus stuff comes out of her mouth

Our last cat went into CHF several times due to HCM. He would become lethargic and wheeze. He never coughed up fluid, but he was always taken to the vet"s immediately. :cross: that she'll be okay.

You rarely see mucous  with CHF, at least i never have but its the breathing rate that is the big issue.   Over 20 breaths per minute is concerning (when at rest) and over 40 is approaching an emergency. But i tink my first concern in her case is an infection.  She definitely needs a vet, and given her age, ASAP.
