...said the 70-plus-year-old theologian, a member of faculty at the theological school where I work.
I made mention of Sallie and her partner's decision a couple of months ago to get a pair of kittens -- I don't remember what thread it was in now, but there was discussion of dog people and cat people and attitudes, etc. Sallie being a dog person of long standing (and in fact a large part of the reason her then-new partner, Janet, needed to find a new home for her two cats, who came to our house), this decision was somewhat momentous. I won't go into the whole thing again, but suffice to say that Sallie was besotted with the kitties they chose, though more than a little nervous about the whole adventure.
In the weeks since the kitties (Yoho and Simi) have been in their home, I have received a number of updates and bulletins and requests for advice about what to expect at this age, etc. We've had some fun conversations. And this morning, as our paths crossed on the way to our respective offices, Sallie stopped me with that line. We had a lovely conversation about the charms of the critters, how wonderful they are in every way, etc, and she concluded by saying she couldn't imagine how she had lived her life without cats.
What a lovely glow to start my day! -- and I just thought I'd share it.
