So my cat has a very overwhelming personality.  He is so talkative, loves to feel your face, eats like a king, and drinks water straight out of the spicket with great enthusiasm.  The other day he let out a very strange meow.  Very deep for him.  My mom knew something was up.   She moved him to our kitchen and gave him treats, which he ate.  He ended up sleeping on the table for the rest of the night.  I had my mom move him to his food and try and give him water from the sink but he showed little interest.  He hopped in the litter box and came directly back out.  He ended up falling asleep in that room and not moving from his spot until my boyfriend brought him to my room.  My cat loves laser pointers! He goes absolutely crazy but when we tried to play with him, he completely ignored it.  He won't even eat treats at this point,  He has been sleeping excessively and won't move unless we are moving him.  His fur is also not as clean feeling as normal, probably due to his lack of grooming because of constantly sleeping.  Do these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? I'm so worried because he is acting so out of the ordinary. Help!

It's impossible to say what's wrong, but something definitely is.  He needs to be seen be a Vet, and the sooner the better, particularly since he's not eating.  Cat's cannot go too long without eating or their liver's can shut down, and if that happens, then you've really got problems.

By now, since this started "the other day", he's probably dehydrated too
, which just adds to his lethargy.  Until you can get him to a Vet, can you or your mother or someone else try to get some liquid into him.  You can even use an eye dropper, or a syringe (without the needle)  You can give him plain  Pedialyte to try to rehydrate him.  Try feeding him baby food (meat and gravy, nothing else), slightly warmed, or some really stinky canned cat food to see if he'll eat any.  Even try some tuna fish to see if he'll eat anything.

Has he USED the litterbox lately?  You said he went in there and immediately got out.  It's important to know (to tell the Vet), as it's possible he has a blockage somewhere.  Is he vomiting?  The Vet will need all the information you can supply to try to determine exactly what is wrong.  And as I said, the sooner the better.

Was the meow in the litterbox? It may be a urinary blockage this cannot be ignored and needs a vet ASAP i.e. Now. Can you press his lower abdomen where is bladder would be to see it that hurts him? Is he A big cat? How old? If it's a blockage waiting even one more day is bad. One of my cats lets out a guttural meow prior to a hairball being coughed up. It could me many things all a vet needs to address.

I'm very sad to report that he has been diagnosed with feline leukemia. I am heartbroken.  The vet believes this disease was transmitted through birth. It is extremely hard because he is only 3 years old and the symptoms came on so fast and so strong.

I had to make an account after seeing this just to offer my support and condolences. My 7 year old, Peekaboo, was diagnosed with carcinomatosis and crossed the rainbow bridge June 25th. She was given weeks. Spend as much time with your kitty as you can, and begin palliative care, for as long as your kitty has a good quality of life. Hang in there.
