There has been a small stray cat hanging around our house. It was thrown out by some idiot that lives up the street from us. We tried to keep it, but it refuses to get along with our two cats. Today, we tried to give it away to a lady that was interested, but the stray buried it's head in my wife's arm and refused to go with the lady. I do not want my cats getting attacked and being stressed, but I also don't want this stray to end up on the euthanasia table. What are my options?

A slow and careful introduction process with your other cats.

How did you try to bring them together?

Two years ago I brought a stray/feral cat into my home.  I had a resident cat living inside and a large dog.  I moved the stray/feral cat into a room of his own that I was sure to cat proof.  This was his safe room.  I worked on socializing the cat first before introductions took place.  The introduction process took one full year.  I made many mistakes along the way that set me back, yet I persevered and took the process slowly.  The cats are now best buddies.  There are many tips and tricks for introducing cats.  Cats are extremely territorial beings.  When you bring a new cat into your home, the cats need to be separated and introduced slowly.  If you are interested I can post some articles and a video on the process.

Well, the introduction process is more difficult than usual for various reasons. One, the stray will not come into our home. Two, both of our cats get 1-2 hours of outside time a day/night and this is the only time they interact with the stray. Our cats are being very nice to it...it's the stray that is freaking out, hissing, etc. when she does those things, our cats just look at her haha.

What about taking it in, more or less by force?  At home you will have a Feliway diffuser on, etc...

The same idea with this potential adopter, if you want to go througt it as the alternative.  Take him in a thick towel, carry ot the other place, with Feliway diffuser prepared, etc...
