HI everyone, I recently was given a kitten on Sunday (sept 13) as a friend for my other cat (hes 1.5 yrs name is Ayyur) . Both cats are from the same mom, when i got the other cat he had no issues he was 8 weeks when i got him. Now this kitten (his name is Anise) my friend wasn't sure how old he is, she believed he was 7-8 weeks, she had just found him the day before she gave him to me. He was still nursing off his mother, but also eating soft/hard food.
The night we got him he had solid form poops, then once we started feeding him soft food he now has poops that look like cow patties or what i like to call, baby food. we also have been mixing a little bit of kitten hard food with the soft food. He will not eat the kitten hard food by its self it has to be mixed. If we just give him the hard kitten food he will go and eat Ayyurs adult hard food.
Now its been 5 days and he still has the baby food poops. He poops as soon as he eats anything. He drinks lots of water. I have to wash his bum every time he poops.
This morning I called the vet, she said to feed him only soft food, that he is still transitioning from feeding from his mom. After I got of the phone I had noticed his anus is swollen. I'm guessing it's from pooping so much.
I apologize for all the information but I am looking for someone that may have experienced this and what they did to help the poor kitten, I don't have a lot of money to spend hundreds of dollars at the vet so I'm looking for anyone that has experienced this exact scenario
thank you in advance for the advice/help i really appreciate it
