Help, I need direction... I adopted my stray male teenage cat, neutered him, then he started losing weight. Took him to Dr. administered Prednisolone and Doxycyline. He continues to lose weight and eats litter, licks pottery and fire screen. Cedric is still eating and drinking water. What to do? He was getting more active but now lethargic. Am I overdosing on the meds? I have been giving meds per Dr's orders for 8 days. Tonight I did not give meds, I had to try something. What to do?

Eating litter and licking pottery is a classic sign of Anemia.  How do his gums look?  Are they pale?  I would definitely get him back in to have his blood tested to see if his values are low.

WHY did they put him on steroids?  Did they suspect IBD or something?  Was he tested for the usual cat diseases, and innoculated for them (since he was a stray)
