WARNING: THIS IS A VERY LONG POST BUT I NEED HELP FOR ONE OF MY BABIES! PLEASE READ!

Oh my goodness I never thought I would be "the crazy cat lady" but I am and I'm proud of it! I got my first cat when I was 6 and fell in LOVE. I love cats (dogs too but cats just really have my heart)!

I've worked at a couple different vet clinics in my life and learned so much from the doctors. I currently have a pit bull mix(Bubba) and (as my mom calles him "the moose") a ginormous black cat (Nibbs) and a year old kitty(The Kitten Paris- named by my daughter) who my mother and I share custody of all living at my mothers house at this time for various reasons

At my house I have 3 indoor cats (Max who is 11years old and an orange tabby, born with a brain disease and I was told he wouldn't live 6 months so HA! Baby, who is another moose of a cat who is a blonde tabby and my gosh he's so big and strong but doesn't know it. And Bitty Boop. She's a bit of a diva! She's a brown, black and a little white tabby and she has an attitude you would not believe!)

The last two I mentioned we rescued from where we currently live. There were 30 kittens born the 1st spring/summer we were here and 28 died! I'm sorry but it makes me sick to think about and angers me greatly! We moved to the house we are in almost 5 years ago and there were 130+ abandoned, feral cats here (outside!). We took on the task of feeding and watering (which in itself is a job and a half) and also trapped them ALL and had them fixed and vaccinated with the help of a lot of great people and organizations which I am still indebted to and very thankful for!

My husband and I just counted last night and both sadly and happily we are down to 23 cats. We have wanted to move for a couple years but I have always been worried about the cats. My husband and i are both disabeled and it has been financially very hard on us!

My biggest problem right now is "The Kitten Paris". She has been to a few different vets and nobody can figure out what is wrong with her. I mentioned my mother and I are "sharing custody". Well that is because she works at a dermatologist office and thought she (along with the doctors) might be able to figure out what's wrong with her.

It started one day when she got out of the house. She came home but her ears were flaky on the outside and dirty (looked like ear mites or an ear infection) on the inside. Well before I could get her to the vet she ran outside again! She loves being outside and her trists lasted about 8 days each time.

When she came back the second time she lookef aweful! Blisters with puss on her belly, her ears were worse, her nail beds were oozing green puss and chunks of her fur was falling out! My poor little angel has been fighting for almost a year with this and she's barely over a year old! The dermatologists at my mom's office think it could be(I'll probably spell this wrong) pemphigus fallacious or an allergy to the sun! How aweful for this precious, wonderful, gift from above.

She has such an awesome personality (even more so when she feels good)! The good news is she has been doing better for 10 days which is amazing since she was going through these week(ish) long cycles of 2 good days and then 5 or so bad. I forgot to mention, and this part hurts me, the vet pulled her nails out (without sedation! ) because her pads were so full of puss! I may be a sissy but I cried! I feel aweful for her. She's been fighting whatever this is for 2-3 times as long as she's been alive!

I guesd I'm just hoping (and yet not at the same time- I don't want any animal to go through what she has) someone might know what is happening to her or have ANY helpful information. If so PLEASE contact me. I would be absolutely indebted to anyone who can help my baby girl!

Thank you for reading this, I can't seem to make anything short and sweet! I look forward to hearing thoughts.

VERY SINCERELY, Audra

What has your vet done so far? Antibiotics?  Are you prepared to keep this cat indoors moving forward?

From what you describe, it seems pemphigus fallacious 'could' be the correct diagnosis, but without professional medical screening, testing, biopsies, and cultures, you won't know for sure.

You might want to check into finding a cat dermatologist in your area and get her properly diagnosed and treated as soon as possible.

I found an article by Nina Shoulberg DVM, MS & Lauren Pinchbeck DVM, MS that will give you some pertinent information on this specific disease.

I hope this helps.

Aww poor baby. I'm so against declawing but if it makes her paws better. Is there any chance she may have gotten into something? A chemical or even a fight with an animal outside? Maybe some sort of bug bit her. The bugs have been bad this summer I was bitten and had an allergic reaction to them. Maybe that's happened to her. I hope you can find out what's going on. Fingers and paws crossed. >^^
