Hello,
I've been searching on the internet to try and get an idea of what might be ailing one of the stray cats I feed and haven't found anything that seems to directly match her issue so I was hoping someone here might be able to give me some advice. Behind my house is an open lot so there are a lot of stray cats and last night, I noticed an odd sore on the chin of one of the cats. Today it didn't look any better so I figured I better research. I came across a few things like rodent ulcers in my search but her wound doesn't really seem to be raised (or like a bump); it basically looks rubbed raw and like there is no fur. It doesn't seem to affect her appetite. I have attached an image to hopefully show what is going on with her. Does anyone know what might be wrong with her and how serious it is? I am hoping to know if this is something that can be left alone to resolve on it's own of if she needs medical treatment and also whether it might be contagious to other cats. Last time I brought a stray with a medical issue to the vet it wound up costing $500+ so it was a bit of a financial shock and I was hoping to have a better idea of what I'm dealing with this time. Thanks so much for any help/advice anyone might be able to provide. She's a sweet girl and I want her to be well.
