Hi

About 4 weeks ago my adorable fluff ball Indie started scratching at herself (ears and neck area, then biting at her tail) - she had a couple of small pimple type bumps on her neck and one on her tail.  She is an indoor cat.   No other people or pets in the house.  After about a week I took her to the vets where I was told she had Miliary Dermatitis (although the vet hardly examined her) and said it was 'probably' fleas.  Vet gave her a steroid injection and told me to flea bomb the house.  I think the problem came from a cat bed my mam bought Indie as a present (thinking it was new).  Indie loved it but after a few hours in it, that's when the itching seemed to start and I found evidence of another animal having been in there (little bits of clay cat litter).

Anyway, the vet also told me to do the normal flea treatment on the back of her neck 3 weeks after the steroid injection (I have changed to Advantage because Frontline gave her a bald spot so I will never use that again).

She is still scratching - and now scratching under her chin.  The original pimple things have gone but there are two new ones.  I have used a flea comb over a white sheet of paper and there is nothing coming off her.

Anyway, my cat is actually very allergic to fleas so I am reluctant to think that they are the problem because she has not lost any fur and the scratching isn't affecting her personality, appetite or energy.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like what Snowy had when the vet said she was allergic to fleas, only it wasn't only a couple bumps, it was a bunch of them.  She was chewing herself raw, but she benefited greatly from her cortisone shot.  She didn't really have a lot of fleas that you could see upon inspection I mean every now and then we would find a solitary flea... but nothing that looked like it could cause the kind of rash she had.  The vet advised it was the flea dust/bites she is allergic too, not just the fleas themselves and assured us that was the cause.

Best of luck to you and kitty!
