Totally grateful to have found this forum! I'd posted first off about wanting info on a girl or boy kitten with 2 big boy cats already in the house. Got some great advice and a few days later - Henry found us!
I'll have to figure out how to get photos up and navigate around here but for now wanted to introduce myself and my kids!
Oliver and Flinn came to live with me in 2011. I adopted from a lady who had rescued the mom and kittens from an old garage. Unfortunately she didn't realize that there were kittens when she caught the mommy cat to do a spay and release. Kittens were left alone for a few days and not doing well but she brought them in with mom and they all did an amazing turn around. Flinn was in pretty bad shape but she nursed him 24/7. I went to visit twice to see who liked me and Oliver decided he liked to play with me while the sisters all ignored me so Oliver and Flinn - the 2 boys out of a litter of 5 - came home with me and I have adored them ever since!
Henry - I found him via a young mom who was overwhelmed with 4 kids and 4 cats. For whatever reason they decided this little guy had to find a new home. I picked him up about 10 days ago and he slept and purred on my lap all the way home! I kept him isolated and did the blanket/sharing smells thing for several days. Evenuatlly though he wondered out of his space and the Big Boys gave him the once over and ok. Oliver has been very distant but recently started coming about again. Flinn seems to have bought in a lot easier.
I also have a Brindle girl dog who has learned some good kitty manners and leaves everyone alone pretty much. Henry will share the bed with Brindle during the night…everyone seems to be adjusting well although I'm still keeping an eye on things and put Henry in the bedroom when I'm gone - at least until I see more playing between everyone when I'm home we'll keep it that way.
Anyway - I am officially a cat lady as I now have a houseful and love it!
