Hello,

I noticed some sort of bald patches on my cat,

there's stil some hair so not entirely bald but you can see dark bluish skin. He's 2 years old , neutered and healthy.

I hope anyone knows what it could be before I head to a vet.

Thank you
Have you noticed him grooming on the bald areas?

Any itching?

When did this start, or when did you first notice it?

Does he go outside?

Hello,

Thanks for responding so fast.

Yyes I have noticed him grooming a lot and biting more than usual.

I have treated him with flea ampoules so it doesn't seem to be that.

It started in the past week and no he never leaves the house.

Ok, assuming it isn't a skin infection (which a vet will help diagnose) the two main causes of what you're seeing are 1) allergy related which causes itching and then over grooming which causes the fur to come out or 2) an obsessive compulsive behavior that results in over grooming usually stress related and is usually diagnosed if nothing else seems to be the cause.

Only a vet can help you work through all these possibilities and the sooner they do that the sooner your cat can get relief.

One way to do a simple diagnosis for allergy will be for your vet to prescribe an appropriate dose of a proper antihistamine and if your cat gets relief, then bingo that's what the cause was. Please don't try his without a vets approval first.

Hello, sorry for the late update but I checked with my vet and it was overgrooming after all!

His hair has grown back and he seems happy again!

Thanks for all your help :)
