Hi all,

I've got two male cats - Pusheen's 9 months old and Stormy is 5 months old. They're both neutered and indoor cats.

Since I got both of them, we've been rotating their wet food between Performatrin Ultra, BFF, Weruva, and Simply Nourish. We want to expose them to different foods, so we've always rotated their foods so that they don't get too attached to one thing. Stormy eats everything, but Pusheen takes his time - and often it results in Stormy stealing his food. Pusheen is only 5.8 lbs and Stormy is 6.0 lbs  - so we've been trying to keep Stormy in a separate room once he's gobbled down his food. Sometimes Pusheen will eat only half his wet food and walk away... We've been so worried about him that we occasionally give him Natural Balance Original Ultra Dry food just so he'll eat something. Pusheen's strange, sometimes he'll gobble it up and the next time we serve the exact same food to him, he'll only finish part of it. I want to make sure they're eating the most optimum diet possible with packaged food. I had male cats in the past so we are very cautious about feeding them any dry food.

We came across PC Nutrition First - Canned food, it comes in 85 g cans and is found in Loblaws. On their Facebook Page, they seem to confirm that is equivalent to a ultra premium food. They seem to confirm that it is equivalent to Halo for the dry food. The price is also very reasonable - like 70 cents a can.

The "Chicken, Tuna, Sardines & Kelp" has the following ingredients list:
chicken, tuna, sardines, chicken liver, kelp, guar gum, carrageenan, salt, potassium chloride, minerals and vitamins, choline chloride, taurine, water sufficient for processing.

The guaranteed analysis says:

Crude Protein: 10.5% (min), Crude Fat 6.0% (min), Crude Fibre 1.5% (max), Moisture 78.0% (max), Ash 3.5% max, Taurine 0.05% (min)

They seem to like the taste - but I was wondering if any one knows whether this is a good cat food based on the labelling - or is the price too good to be true?

I (unfortunately) do not have access to PC products anymore..since I moved from Canada to the US..and I miss them SO much!  I have not had a cat previously when this food was available, so I have no experience with this food.  I am more knowledgeable about dog nutrition than I am with cat, but I can tell you I have fed PC Nutrition First to my dog since he was a puppy, my parents still feed it to him, I am very happy with the ingredients and it is very affordable compared to other high quality dog food, and just as good.  I can assume that it is probably very similar quality for cats as well.  If I move back to Canada, I will probably feed it to my cat.

If they like it, which in my book is the most important thing, then I would certainly put it in the rotation.  The ingredients aren't bad.  I've never heard of kelp being an ingredient in cat food , but know it's an ingredient in Super Greens, so guess maybe they threw it in there to appease us humans

Thanks for the feedback on the dog food. I'm worried about the overall nutrition for the cats though. I've had a male cat in the past that developed UTD because of the food he was eating - that was recommended by the vet. So I've basically become very wary of trusting vets when it comes to food and the ads out there.

On one hand you could ask the vet but really the best thing is just to feed cats what they like, and experiment
