So my cat had a healthy pregnancy. But unfortunately she had a stillbirth 1 day ago very sad. I think I can still feel another kitten in there but today she's been spotting. She was nothing all day yesterday I'm kind of acting like she was going to give birth but there are no contractions or anything like that. And this morning I found blood spots on my bed. I called the vet and he suggested I bring her in the problem is is I'm absolutely flat broke and the timing is just terrible on top of that I have a son with fever and vomiting at home so its not probably going to be feasible to go to the veterinarian today. Does anyone have any advice on why she might be bleeding

It's normal to have some spotting after giving birth.  What color is the blood and how much is there?

Cats also have afterbirth pains.  If she doesn't seem to be in distress and the bleeding is tiny amounts I don't think the vet is necessary right now.

How many kittens were stillborn? Did she clean them off? Did they look fully furred and developed?

It's possible she may still have a kitten to deliver, but since she's not contracting, she's probably just spotting. It should turn brownish and become less, and stop altogether in 2-3 days. If she is hemorrhaging you'll have to take her to the vet.

I'm sorry she birthed stillborns.

It was normal colored but the night before was bright colored. No more spotting today so thats good. I def felt another kitten in there.

She is sleeping alll day and wont leave my sick son's side. Kinda sweet right ;)
The stillborn was faintly alive i think when born but no movemement and had hair and was beautiful and full developed.

Let me know if this other kitten has a chance at life?

P.s. Thank you so much to everyone who replied. Much love.

Good to hear!

How is your son doing?   Sorry I didnt read your thread earlier.   A nice help for vomiting children is pedialyte.  Bought or homemade.   If necessary just a little but often.  So the stomach doesnt feel there is something new to vomit out, but the child gets the fluid...

I managed my son this way 22 years ago... Of course, I knew it was  this variation of flu going, so it wasnt real danger as long as I managed to get the pedialyte into him...   Othewise I would of course take him to the doc. /hospital.

Anyways, pedialyte is a wonderful help in many cases, both with cats and with humans.

Thank you so much for the advice. I never even thought to use that as he has not had the tummy flu before. He is all better but still week.

I took Nola to the vet this morning and he said no kittens inside. I swore i felt something moving inside a few times. Oh well. One kitten buried and my cat is healthy. Im too blessed to be stressed ;)

If you really want to know for sure, an x-ray at the vet's office would reveal whether there is still a kitten inside.

If she is no longer pregnant, are you making plans to spay your cat soon? She'll go back into heat otherwise. I'm glad she's healthy :).
