Hi I just got these two kittens within the last week. The little orange guy, Taco, we got about a week and a half ago. The lady said they were 8 weeks, but looking back thru her pics he was born July 23rd so he is only 7 1/2 weeks now. The little girl next to him, Bonsai, was born July 26th so she is just over 7 weeks.

I'm just curious about the size difference between the two. Little orange guy seems like a "normal" sized kitten to me. But the little grey girl and the rest of her litter are all so tiny. She is barely bigger than my hand. Other than being tiny she looks and acts just like any other kitten, same with the rest of her litter.

oh my they're adorable! Kitten breeds do vary in size. Then again so do moggies, did you see any of the parents? might give you an idea of how large they might get to as well. More pictures please! melting over these cuties!

It's a friend who has the grey litter so I've played with them since they were 3 weeks old. I know the mom and older sister are both smaller, but two of the older brothers are pretty big. Never saw the dad. That's her at 3 weeks old.

The orange guy I really know nothing about...

They get along great. Running around playing as I type this. Little grey girl is definitely more cuddly, orange guy prefers to play.

Just strange to me that when they are walking around she can easily just walk under him because she's so small. I've never seen kittens that old be so small before. Going to the vet hopefully Thursday, or for sure Friday to get shots and microchipped. We'll see then how much she weighs to see when I can hopefully get her spayed. She's just such a dinky little thing.

This is the rest of the grey litter with Lil Bit their older sister and a dog that is around 15 lbs. Lil Bit is smaller then their mom and about half the size of her brother that they kept as well. But she was also the runt of the litter that my friend had to hand feed for a bit.

yeah she's more than likely going to be a tiny fur bundle. So long as she's not exhibiting any signs of illness, which I'm sure you would have mentioned. It's just genes that make her tiny! weigh her now, weigh her in a week or so just make sure she's putting on weight is all I can say! Ask the vet how rapidly they should gain weight, My kitten gained 1/3 of her body in 3 weeks at 8/9 weeks of age and apparently this is good weight gain. they grow bloomin quickly though hold on to this tiny sweet kitty time before they start chowing down on you toes!

Adorable pix again by the way.

I have had a couple of small cats that never got over seven pounds.  And if you read Gwen Cooper's book, 'Homer's Odyssey', you will learn that Homer never gained more than five pounds at the most.

Remember that there's always the possibility that a litter can be of two or more toms. You know how that happens, right? Cats are not exactly monogamous. Orange guy could have a different dad if dad(s) was unknown.

Oh the orange cat is for sure another litter. I've been getting updates on Bonsai's (grey girl) litter since they were born. I picked her out at 3 weeks old. Taco (orange guy) came from another town even lol. His litter was born July 23rd, her's was born July 26th.

When I took them for their first shots Taco was 2 lbs exactly at 8 weeks and at 7 weeks 4 days Bonsai was 13 ounces.  That was 5 days ago though.  The vet didn't want to microchip them when Bonsai was so small so we will wait till they get spayed/neutered in a couple months. Do it while they are passed out anyways.

This was Bonsai yesterday evening before I left for work. Still just a tiny handful of kitten.

Taco meanwhile is way more than a handful lol. He looks to be at least double her size, if not more. He's a big boy, Or she is just that dinky lol.

I just love my kitties! lol

Curious, orange, stinker!

Yes, there can be multiple fathers for a litter, but these two are from different litters. In any case, the red gene is sex-linked, which means that the father does not contribute genetically to the color of a red male kitten. All that's required is that the mother have red in her (i.e. red/calico/tortoiseshell). A red female kitten must have both a red father and a mother with red in her.

Congratulations, they are so adorable!!  Taco looks like my ginger & white tabby. He probably will be a big, long boy. Angel is pretty long, & about 15 lbs now!  (I bet that's what he looked like when he was a kitten)

I agree. I think Taco is going to be a big boy! One great thing about him is that he seems to refuse to use his claws if you are touching him! He's such a sweet boy. I definitely feel lucky I got him! And tiny Bonsai runs to the door to greet ne every time I come home. Aw I love having my babies!

In another note however... A girl posted in a buy/sell local facebook site today that she had founds kittens outside and needed help with them because she couldn't afford to do anything with them. So we have an extra 5 kittens that I'm going to be finding homes for. She didn't know how long they'd been outside or how old they are... But I'm guessing at least 6 weeks ish. We'll see when I get them into the vet I guess. One girl had a big fat worm belly :( and two others have really bad gunky eyes. The fat belly girl is very friendly however..

These are all of them after their bath when I brought them home tonight

Fat girl is very curious and outgoing. She found her place to sleep tonight.

This little guy I've been calling Vlad because when I first went to pull him out of the crate he was trying to bite. Currently cuddled up on my shoulder sleeping.

Vlad when Taco and Bonsai came to investigate while I was trying to get pictures. Love my big sweet boy! He just wanted to see the kittens.

The three that don't want to come out of the box, the top two are the gunky eye ones.

Love the coloring on the girl.

If anyone knows anyone on the northern Oregon coast who wants a kitten.........

That's so great that you are helping these babies! ...However, I would keep them separate from your kitties until they have a clean bill of health from your vet. It sounds like they probably have feline herpes, from what you said about the eyes, & probably worms, especially with a swollen belly.  Always keep any newbies coming in from your babies, until you know its safe from the vet. You don't want to risk your kitties getting sick too.

Bless you for helping them, I hope they all find good homes.

Sigh. It's already too late for that. Taco tried to get very involved with them from the get go, he was jumping in the box and wouldn't leave them alone. Tried getting pictures of them and they both had to explore. Taco and Bonsai are still in the process of getting dewormed as is so perfect timing to just do them all. Planning on a vet trip today for them if my toddler lets me.

So four of the five kittens have found new homes. But this fifth kitten, Vlad, I just don't want to give up. He's very cuddly, but skittish still. If I am in bed he loves to cuddle and purr like crazy. But I am just curious as to what you guys might think he'll look like when he is an adult. I have a thing for tabby cats. And he almost looks like he has some tabby markings. He's a nice charcoal grey I would say, but his paws/face have almost a silver tinge to them. He has however darker stripes/markings all over in certain light. Anyone have any clue/ideas of what and adult Vlad will/could look like?
