So a few weeks ago I posted about how after my baby Zander got neutered he had very funny stool and his inner eye lids kept showing . I gave it a few days and nothing changed. I ended up taking him to the vet because I was worried about him getting dehydrated from all the runny BM. They gave me some special cat food with probiotics in it and metronidazole. I gave him the food and the meds. It honestly didn't seem to make much of a difference BUT his inner lids did stop showing... He is still having very loose stoole though. Idk what it could be. He seems absolutely fine. He is happy as ever. He eats normally and is drinking more than he was when he was really bad. He's very playful and runs around with my other kitten all the time. They did another fecal to make sure he didn't have worms and that came back clear. He had already been checked for this, so I wasn't really concerned with that. And he has also been treated for tape worm just in case. I usually feed both of my kitty's authority cat food because it doesn't seem like it has terrible ingredients and occasionally some dry of the simply nourish when I know I won't be home for a while. I just recently was at pet smart and saw some of the grain free cat food on sale. So I stocked up on some blue buffalo and the simply nourish chicken and duck. I also got a can of wellness turkey grain free. Do you think it could be the food I give him? The funny thing is, when I first got him he ALWAYS ate authority, none of this started until after he was neutered! It's the craziest thing. I just don't know what to do. He is able to make it to the box, so it's not like he is having accidents in the house, but it's just so yucky sometimes and I have to literally take a wipe and clean his bottom sometimes because it's just so runny. I also do this because I have a white comforter and he likes to poop then hop on my bed!! [emoji]128586[/emoji] lol.. I am going to give this a few more days with the different food and if nothing has changed I guess I will call the vet again. I'm not terribly worried just because he seems perfectly fine and he is drinking/ eating etc. I am going to wait and see. Has anyone ever experienced this?!

But see, here he is being a sneaky little booger. [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

What are you feeding him? Dry or canned?  Has the vet sent the stool specimen off to the lab to have the PCR diarrhea panel done to test for tritrichomonas or other parasites that don't show on the fecal float test?

He eats mostly wet. He only has dry on the one night a week where I have to work until 10. They haven't said anything about that. I just called earlier and spoke to a nurse. They said they will talk to the vet and give me a call back.

Mix canned pumpkin, not the pie filling, in with the wet food.  Most cats like this and it will help with the diarrhea.

I can vouch that the canned pumpkin really does work.   He needs a total of 3 tsp daily broken up in separate meal times.   So if I feed 3x a day, I'll put in 1 tsp in with his wet food.  If I feed 2x a day, I'll put in 1.5 tsp in each wet food meal.    I have a new rescue cat who doesn't have "diarrhea" but very softly formed poop, and it is gross
Like your guy, he's been dewormed and clear fecal analysis.   Don't know what is causing it, other than he's still slowly adapting to living inside and getting regular meals.   But he was like that before his neutering too......  anyways, the pumpkin helped considerably, so I guess that's just something I'm gonna have to do for him now

Thanks for the comments guys! The vet called about 45 min before they closed so the vet wanted a stoole sample to send off so amazingly enough he was potty right after the vet and I finished talking and I was able to haul tail and make it there before they closed. Lol just the waiting game now. Where do I buy canned pumpkin? Sorry that may be a dumb question...? I've just never bought it. I have bought something similar... I think... but I used it to make pumpkin bread. Lol idk if it is the same stuff you're talking about.

You can get plain canned pumpkin (pumpkin puree) in the baking section.  Be sure to not get the pumpkin pie filling, just plain canned pumpkin.

How old is your kitty?  What brand of food are you feeding him?  (Sorry if you've already mentioned those things.)

He was born in May. So he is around 4 months old. I usually feed him the authority brand chicken pate for kittens. I just recently switched him to some grain free. So far he has tried the blue buffalo grain free kitten formula. It's chicken as well. I also have a can of wellness grain free turkey. The food the vet gave was royal canin gastrointestinal high energy wet food. I only have two cans of that one though.

I'm seriously in the same predicament as you about the diarrhea!!!  It sure is discouraging to say the least.  My Benny is turning 6months this month and I've had him for a month now.  3 types of fecal tests all negatvie..Antibiotics help for a bit but once he's off of it he goes back to runny diarrhea and i have to wipe his dirty butt.  Other than that he's doing great.  Loves to eat, play, drink, and cuddle >< He has gone from 5 pounds to 6.14 pounds in the month that I've had him.  My thread is below:

http://www.thecatsite.com/t/305754/help-shelter-kitty-diarrhea-driving-me-crazy

My vet is going back to the vet this weekend.  Pumpkin doesn't seem to hurt, and btw you can get it at a grocery store or at a pet supply store (pure pumpkin).  I tried probiotics but it only seemed to make it even runnier.

I'm sorry to say this, but if there's nothing medically wrong with our kitties all signs point to feeding them RAW.  -_-  That's my conclusion from searching like a mad woman on the internet.

Currently switched over to Wellness Core Grain Free for Kittens.  Hoping it'll improve the situation.  Keep us updated and let us know if anything worked for you!

Yep the canned pumpkin is in the baking aisle with all the pie stuff - there will be the "pumpkin pie filling" and there will be just the plain old canned pumpkin, which is what you want!

This really helped "firm up" my rescue cat's poop!   Plus, I was feeding him 100% wet, so I started throwing in just 1/8 cup of kibble a day too in addition to his 2 wet food meals a day.   Now his poop looks totally normal!
