This is making me crazy and I realize these aren't the best pictures. A friend asked me to go curtain shopping with her on Saturday and I came across some on clearance that would work in my living room.

I didn't plan on getting curtains, but the colors go well, the price is right and my curtains are looking a bit tired.

I've been going around and around with this. Are they too dark and do they darken the room too much?

The one on the right

I need to decide soon. They will go fast because they are on clearance and the local store doesn't have as many as I would need (10). I'd have to go to more than one store and I won't have a vehicle tomorrow because my husband's car is being serviced.

I was almost thinking they would be good for fall and winter and I could switch to something lighter for Spring and Summer.

What do you think?

Thanks!

No, I don't think they darken the room (unless you close them...
) and I really like them.. They look stylish and of a good quality... I like earthy stuff and they go with the floorboards and the wooden floor.  And they're a bargain!

I like them too.  Very rich colours.  Perfect for autumn.  Cute kitty too.

I like it
The pattern is similar to an energy saving set that I use in the winter months. I do switch curtains, too. From April to October I switch to lighter almost meshy-y curtains, not sheer as I already have sheers on the double curtain rods.

They do look like they darken the room quite a bit, even if they aren't closed. I know there's not a lot of daylight in MA in the winter, so I can see how that's a concern. (In the future you could always use longer rods so the curtains clear the windows when they are open.) On the plus side, they are very nice (love the colors, too) and they will probably help with insulation since they seem pretty thick.

Personally, I like the new ones and would use those. Realistically, I couldn't since my husband needs as much light as possible in the winter. I guess that's not very helpful.

We don't have drapes up in our bedroom right now because of painting, woodwork, etc, and I am loving the extra light. Plus, it's a southern exposure, so we're getting tons of sunlight during the day. When we finally do put drapes back up, I am going to miss that natural light so much. Especially since we're going into fall and winter around here. I really mind the dreariness of winter and the lack of natural light is depressing for me.

I like them!  I have the worst time finding curtains I like for a price I want to pay.  We have been here for 6 years and I still haven't found "the" cuirtains for our kitchen.  So I have a decorative rod over the window with a sheet pinned to it to keep out the summer heat.  Classy right?

I like them, they remind me a bit of some really classy 70's curtains we had in my parents' home when I was growing up - they lasted 'forever'!   They look like they go with your 'stuff' so if you like them you should go for it.  Curtains are really hard to find.

I think they look great! The darker pattern looks nice up against the wall color and they go well with your floors and couch.

Well the curtains were shortened and were hung yesterday! It's impossible to get a decent pic on my phone. Yes, I do have a brown sheet over my brown loveseat to catch the cat hairs. :lol3:

Very nice, Karen! I like them!

If I may ask, how wide are your window sills? They look wide enough to hold a kitty butt.
