I've been showing my Ragdoll mix Maya in HHP in the local CFA show we have here every year. This year will be her 3rd show and she's been steadily ranking in the Top 10 in the majority of her rounds. I love showing her and the whole atmosphere of shows in general, and I'm really excited to show 2 cats for the first time this year.

My baby, Zoey, is a year old now and I think she's ready to show. She's a very playful, outgoing, friendly cat who loves everybody she meets and I think she'll do really well. The only reason I didn't enter her last year was because she was in a very  nippy stage when she about 4-8 months and didn't want to risk her going after a judge's fingers.

Anyway I just wanted to share my excitement. Anybody else show HHP? Anybody have advice on managing 2 cats in a show? I don't know if it's any more difficult than 1 but if it is any advice would be much appreciated. And feel free to post pictures of your HHP kitties if you show them! I love to see them.

Zoey (Maya is the tuxedo seen in some of these):

Welcome to the show world! Which CFA region are you in? How many HHPs are usually entered in the show? Showing two isn't a lot more complicated than showing one. The numbers are assigned by age, so your younger cat will have a lower number than the older one. Be sure you take the younger one to the ring first so you won't keep the judge waiting. If their numbers are close together you can let the clerk know the second one is coming. That way they'll know they don't have to put out a second call.

Thank you! We're in the Northwest region and this show usually has a little less than 100 HHPs entered. I've never been to a different show, though, so I don't know if that's average for the region or what. I didn't know that the numbers were assigned by that, thank you! That's really helpful to know.

I've been to a few shows in the Northwest Region, but didn't know any shows got that many HHP entries. That's a huge number! Which show is it?

It's called IdaCats? I don't think very many people not from the area go to it. One of the local shelters enters a bunch of their cats every year to promote adoptions so that contributes to a lot of the HHP entries. I actually worked the show for them the year before I started showing Maya and that's how I got into it. It's pretty hard not to have fun carrying kittens around all weekend.

Now I'm confused. The only IdaCats show I've seen listed is in Boise and the HHP count last March was 24, not close to 100. About a third of them were rescue cats.

Really? I missed last year but the 2 years that I've gone plus the year I volunteered there were a lot more than that.

Ahh! That's another reason I was confused. I did go to the last Boise show (my first time there) but I didn't see Maya's name in the show report. I thought maybe IdaCats was putting on another show that I didn't know about.

Hahaha yeah that would explain it. That's cool that you've gone, it's a nice show. I don't know why there were so few HHPs last year though. The year before there were somewhere between 80 and 90 I think. A lot of people around here like to enter their cats once or twice just for fun.

If Maya was making top 10 out of that many cats, she's a very special kitty.
